Quran Research Project - Master Block 001 (Surahs 1-10) - Corrected Full-Schema Build
Coverage: Surah 1:1-7; 2:1-286; 3:1-200; 4:1-176; 5:1-120; 6:1-165; 7:1-206; 8:1-75; 9:1-129; 10:1-109 | Built September 14, 2026
QRQ-0001 - God
Strong early evidence: merciful/compassionate, Lord of all worlds, Master of Judgment, Creator/Sustainer, exclusive object of worship/help, source of guidance, covenant giver, revealer, forgiver, and knower.
QRQ-0002 - Jesus
No substantive evidence yet through 2:74.
QRQ-0003 - Earlier Scripture
Major evidence accumulated: 2:4 requires belief in earlier revelation; 2:41 says current revelation confirms what is with Israel; 2:44 says they recite al-kitab; 2:53 gives Moses al-kitab/al-furqan; 2:42 and 2:59 accuse concealment/mixing/substitution in contexts that do not yet prove wholesale manuscript corruption.
QRQ-0004 - Muhammad
Indirectly present as recipient/servant of revelation in 2:23; fuller profile not yet developed.
QRQ-0005 - Revelation
The Book is guidance (2:2); current revelation confirms prior revelation (2:41); Moses receives divine Book/Criterion (2:53).
QRQ-0006 - Salvation
Emerging elements: faith, righteous deeds, prayer/giving, repentance, divine mercy, guidance, judgment. 2:25 links faith/deeds with gardens; 2:37 shows Adam's repentance accepted; 2:62 gives a positive formula including Jews/Christians/Sabians. Final system remains open.
QRQ-0007 - Sin and Human Nature
Humans can reject, deceive themselves, have sealed/diseased/hardened hearts, transgress, repent, and receive mercy. Adam and spouse share transgression in 2:35-36. Inherited guilt is not established through 2:74.
QRQ-0008 - Death, Judgment, Afterlife
Day of Judgment introduced in 1:4; gardens/fire and no-fear/no-grief formulas appear in Surah 2. Full eschatology remains open.
QRQ-0009 - Biblical People and Events
Adam, Iblis/Satan, Moses, Pharaoh, Israel, golden calf, manna/quail, rock-water, covenant, Sabbath, and cow/murder episodes now active in comparison atlas.
QRQ-0010 - Quran/Bible Continuity
Early Quran self-presentation is strongly confirmatory toward prior revelation while sharply critical of some human responses to it. Replacement/supersession/correction questions remain open.
Checkpoint 002 Status Through Quran 2:177
QRQ-0001 - God
Further evidence: one God (2:163), sovereign over east/west (2:115), rejects taking a son (2:116), changes/appoints ritual requirements, tests believers, and remains source of mercy/guidance.
QRQ-0002 - Jesus
Now active: 2:87 names Jesus son of Mary, gives him clear signs, and says he is strengthened by rūḥ al-qudus; 2:136 includes him in prophetic revelation continuity. Divine-sonship rejection appears generically in 2:116; explicit Jesus-sonship passages remain ahead.
2:129 prays for a future messenger; 2:151 strongly echoes the same messenger functions; 2:97 places Gabrielic revelation upon the messenger's heart. Full biography remains outside Quran unless explicitly supplied.
QRQ-0005 - Revelation
Naskh/āyah replacement language appears in 2:106; concrete command change occurs in qiblah 2:142-150. Gabriel is explicitly an agent of revelation in 2:97.
QRQ-0006 - Salvation
2:111-112 rejects communal identity as proof; 2:177 gives the strongest righteousness synthesis yet. Faith, submission to God, good works, generosity, prayer, covenant fidelity, patience, repentance, and mercy remain cumulative elements.
QRQ-0007 - Sin and Human Nature
Ancestral tradition, communal presumption, selective obedience, concealment, and inner-heart resistance continue as human failure modes. Personal/community accountability remains emphasized.
QRQ-0008 - Death, Judgment, Afterlife
2:154 says those killed in God's way are alive; suffering/testing and return to God are emphasized in 2:155-157. Full intermediate-state doctrine remains open.
QRQ-0009 - Biblical People and Events
Jesus, Gabriel, Solomon, Harut/Marut, Abraham and Ishmael are now substantial. Abraham/Ishmael Sacred House narrative and Solomon-magic narrative require historical-source work.
QRQ-0010 - Quran/Bible Continuity
The Quran increasingly claims continuity of God, prophets and revelation while openly permitting changed ritual/legal practice. Confirmation and replacement are not being treated as mutually exclusive categories.
Checkpoint 003 Status Through Completion of Surah 2
QRQ-0001 - God
Surah 2 culminates in 2:255: one God, Ever-Living, Sustainer, sovereign, all-knowing, sleepless, unwearied, permitting intercession only by permission. 2:186 presents God as near to the caller.
QRQ-0002 - Jesus
No new sonship-specific Jesus passage beyond prior records; 2:253 again singles Jesus out with clear signs and Holy Spirit strengthening. Pending Christology flag remains active.
QRQ-0003 - Earlier Scripture
No decisive new taḥrīf passage after 2:177. Surah-2 cumulative result remains multiple human mishandling mechanisms plus repeated affirmation/confirmation/recitation of prior revelation; wholesale textual corruption remains unestablished.
QRQ-0004 - Muhammad
Messenger/revelation/obedience themes continue; no full biographical development in this block.
QRQ-0005 - Revelation
The surah closes with acceptance of God, angels, Books and messengers plus “we hear and obey,” reinforcing revelation-response architecture.
QRQ-0006 - Salvation
Faith, obedience, righteous conduct, repentance, charity, patience, non-coercion language, intercession-by-permission, and divine forgiveness/judgment remain cumulative elements. 2:286 stresses capacity and personal accountability.
QRQ-0007 - Sin and Human Nature
Family, economic, testimony and inner-heart ethics show accountability across private and public conduct. 2:286 strongly emphasizes each soul’s acquired moral responsibility.
QRQ-0008 - Death, Judgment, Afterlife
2:243, 2:259 and 2:260 provide resurrection demonstrations; 2:255 addresses intercession; 2:284-286 close with comprehensive accountability, forgiveness, punishment and mercy.
QRQ-0009 - Biblical People and Events
Tālūt/Saul, Ark, Gideon-like river test, David/Goliath and Abraham resurrection stories generate major comparison/source questions.
QRQ-0010 - Quran/Bible Continuity
Surah 2 presents continuity in God/prophets/revelation while openly developing distinct law and ritual. Similarity, addition, legal difference, and possible replacement must be classified separately.
Checkpoint 004 Status Through Completion of Surah 2
Checkpoint 004 Status Through Quran 3:120
Surah 3 reaffirms exclusive monotheism, al-Hayy/al-Qayyum, universal knowledge, justice, sovereignty, and refusal of divine sonship.
Major expansion: Messiah, Word from God, virgin-conceived, honored, miracle worker, raiser of dead by God's permission, confirmer of Torah, recipient/student of Gospel, worshiper of God, compared with Adam, and subject of mutawaffika/raising language.
3:3-4 says God sent Torah/Gospel and Quran confirms prior revelation; 3:23 invokes God's Book for judgment; 3:78 records tongue-twisting; 3:93 directly calls for Torah to be brought and recited. Wholesale textual corruption remains unestablished.
3:20 emphasizes conveyance; 3:31-32 links following/obeying the Messenger to love and obedience toward God; 3:44 claims revelation of unseen historical events.
3:19 and 3:85 intensify exclusivity language; 3:113-115 positively describes some People of the Book. QCA-0002 remains open.
QRQ-0007 - Sin/Human Nature
Heart deviation, manipulation of ambiguous revelation, concealment, covenant breaking, and repentance continue as key themes.
QRQ-0008 - Judgment/Afterlife
Wealth cannot ransom; judgment is tied to divine justice; Jesus is honored in this world and the Hereafter.
QRQ-0009 - Biblical People/Events
Mary, Zechariah, John, Jesus, Abraham, and the family of Imran now dominate. Several apocryphal/extra-biblical parallels require source-history investigation.
QRQ-0010 - Continuity
Quran increasingly claims continuity with Abraham/Torah/Gospel while simultaneously rejecting later Jewish/Christian theological positions and allowing legal modification.
Checkpoint 005 Status Through Completion of Surah 2
Checkpoint 005 Status Through Quran 3:120
Checkpoint 005 Status Through Quran 3:200
Divine sovereignty in battle, life/death, forgiveness, punishment, justice, provision, creation, and resurrection is reinforced.
No major new Christology after 3:63 in this block; the previously opened mutawaffika/raising and sonship questions remain active.
3:187 explicitly requires recipients to make Scripture clear and not conceal it, strongly reinforcing the concealment/disregard model in QCA-0001.
Now clearly a mortal messenger, military organizer, and community leader commanded to practice gentleness, forgiveness, consultation, and reliance on God.
Messenger functions of reciting signs, purification, Book and wisdom recur in 3:164.
Righteousness includes forgiveness, repentance, perseverance, generosity, and obedience. 3:199 helps harmonize positive People-of-the-Book passages by describing the rewarded subgroup as believing Muhammad's revelation too.
Defeat is connected to disobedience, division, fear, worldly desire, satanic influence, and prior moral action, yet pardon remains possible.
Martyrs are described as alive with God and provisioned; final success is defined as being removed from Fire and admitted to Paradise.
Battle material dominates; source-history questions concerning Jewish sacrifice-by-fire claims and broader biblical parallels remain open.
Surah 3 closes with the Quranic community warned not to repeat the division and disobedience attributed to earlier communities.
Checkpoint 006 Status Through Completion of Surah 2
Checkpoint 006 Status Through Quran 3:120
Checkpoint 006 Status Through Quran 3:200
Checkpoint 006 Status Through Quran 4:176
Surah 4 reinforces exclusive monotheism, divine justice, sovereignty, unforgivability/severity of shirk, and rejection of divine offspring while permitting intercession only derivatively under God.
Major expansion: 4:157 denies killing/crucifixion; 4:158 says God raised Jesus; 4:171 calls him Messiah, Messenger, Word and Spirit from God, rejects “Three” and divine walad, and 4:172 calls Jesus God’s servant.
4:46 records distortion/tongue twisting; 4:47 says Quran confirms what is with People of the Book; 4:136 requires belief in earlier Scripture; 4:162 praises those who believe present and prior revelation. Total textual corruption remains unestablished.
Surah 4 substantially strengthens Muhammad’s judicial, communal and military authority while repeatedly keeping him subordinate to God.
Obedience to Messenger is derivative of God; legal development continues; earlier Scripture remains within the required revelation continuum.
Belief, righteous action, repentance, divine mercy and obedience remain central. Shirk receives unique severity; hypocrisy can still be repented of before judgment.
Human weakness is explicit in 4:28; guilt is personal and cannot rightly be shifted to an innocent person; this will matter for Adam/original-sin comparison.
QRQ-0008 - Death/Judgment/Afterlife
4:56 gives explicit bodily hell imagery; martyrdom/postmortem life remains cumulative; Jesus death timing remains unresolved despite crucifixion denial.
Sabbath-breakers, Mary, Jesus/crucifixion, Moses, David, Abraham and broader prophetic continuity are central. Source-history layers require Jewish/Christian chronology control.
Surah 4 intensifies the Quran’s simultaneous claim of continuity with earlier revelation and rejection of central Christian historical/theological claims.
Checkpoint 007 Status Through Quran 5:120
QRQ-0001 - God
Surah 5 emphasizes covenant authority, final judgment, strict monotheism, and absolute sovereignty; Christian deity/Trinity claims are explicitly rejected.
QRQ-0002 - Jesus
Jesus’ miracle profile is repeated; “God is Messiah” and “third of three” are rejected; 5:116 raises the Jesus/Mary representation issue; 5:117 reuses w-f-y language.
QRQ-0003 - Earlier Scripture
This question advances dramatically: 5:43 says Jews have Torah containing God’s judgment; 5:44 Torah is guidance/light; 5:46 Gospel is guidance/light; 5:47 commands Gospel people to judge by it; 5:48 Quran confirms and is muhaymin; 5:66/68 command upholding Torah/Gospel.
QRQ-0004 - Muhammad
Messenger remains judge and full conveyor; 5:67 requires complete delivery of revelation.
QRQ-0005 - Revelation
Surah 5 distinguishes authentic revelation from human distortion, concealment, forgetting, inherited customs, and fabricated prohibitions.
QRQ-0006 - Salvation
5:69 repeats 2:62; 5:82-85 positively describes Christians who recognize and accept new revelation. QCA-0002 remains open but harmonization strengthens.
QRQ-0007 - Sin/Human Nature
Inner moral causation appears in 5:30; communal failure includes tolerating wrong; individual responsibility remains explicit in 5:105.
QRQ-0008 - Judgment/Afterlife
Material ransom fails; severe criminal law and final judgment are distinguished; truthfulness and divine sovereignty close the surah.
QRQ-0009 - Biblical/Jewish/Christian People and Events
Cain/Abel-type narrative, Moses/Holy Land, Jesus miracles, Christian subgroups, rabbinic parallel to 5:32, and Table Spread all materially expand the comparative corpus.
QRQ-0010 - Continuity
Surah 5 most clearly presents continuity plus differentiated law: Torah/Gospel remain divine and usable while Quran is final confirming/muhaymin revelation and communities can have distinct legal paths.
Checkpoint 008 — Core Research Question Updates
QRQ-0001 — God: Surah 6 intensifies divine sovereignty, omniscience, mercy, self-sufficiency, judgment and control of guidance while also insisting on justice and human accountability.
QRQ-0002 — Jesus: 6:60-61 materially advances the w-f-y lexical corpus; 6:101 sharpens the divine-sonship representation problem.
QRQ-0003 — Earlier Scripture: 6:91 calls Moses’ Book light/guidance while describing selective concealment; 6:92 confirms earlier revelation; 6:115 repeats that God’s words cannot be changed; 6:154 again calls Mosaic Scripture detailed guidance and mercy.
QRQ-0004 — Muhammad: His limitations become unusually explicit—no independent unseen knowledge, no divine treasures, no angelic identity, no control of judgment or demanded signs; he follows revelation and earlier prophetic guidance.
QRQ-0005 — Revelation: False claims of revelation are condemned; divine words are true/just and inviolable; majority opinion and conjecture are rejected as truth tests.
QRQ-0006 — Salvation: repentance/reform and divine mercy remain central; deeds affect rank; good is multiplied tenfold while evil receives only its equivalent; last-minute belief can become too late.
QRQ-0007 — Sin/Human Nature: repeated evidence-resistance, divine hardening, deceptive attraction, and rejection of divine-will excuses create a more complex responsibility model.
QRQ-0008 — Judgment/Afterlife: humans and jinn are accountable; ransom fails; Fire includes an “except as God wills” clause whose implications remain open.
QRQ-0009 — Biblical/Jewish/Christian People and Events: Āzar/Terah, Abraham’s celestial argument, positive Mosaic-Scripture descriptions, Jewish dietary rationale, child sacrifice and commandment parallels expand the comparison corpus.
QRQ-0010 — Continuity: Surah 6 strongly presents Muhammad as following earlier prophets and Quran as confirming earlier revelation while retaining distinct final authority.
Checkpoint 009 — Core Research Question Updates
QRQ-0001 — God: Surah 7 intensifies sole worship, sovereignty over guidance/judgment, mercy, creation and protection while preserving creaturely accountability.
QRQ-0002 — Jesus/Christianity: 7:157 makes the Torah/Gospel Muhammad-recognition claim externally testable. Injīl research found no pre-Islamic evidence for a separate revelation-book given directly to Jesus that predicts Muhammad.
QRQ-0003 — Earlier Scripture: 7:157 says Muhammad is findable in Torah/Gospel “with them”; 7:169-170 still treats “the Book” as inherited, studied and something righteous people can hold firmly. Total pre-Islamic disappearance remains difficult to derive from the Quran itself.
QRQ-0004 — Muhammad: 7:157 universalizes/anchors his claimed scriptural anticipation; 7:187-188 denies independent knowledge of the Hour/unseen; 7:203 denies ability to manufacture revelation.
QRQ-0005 — Revelation: Torah, Gospel and Quran are presented in continuity, but historical verification of the claimed Muhammad prophecy remains unresolved/problematic.
QRQ-0006 — Salvation: primordial accountability, repentance, taqwā, truth-guidance and final judgment remain central.
QRQ-0007 — Sin/Human Nature: Adam/wife jointly sin and repent; no inherited guilt is stated. 7:172-173 grounds accountability in primordial testimony.
QRQ-0008 — Judgment/Afterlife: al-Aʿrāf, Paradise/Hell communication and delayed judgment expand the eschatological picture.
QRQ-0009 — Biblical/Jewish/Christian People and Events: Surah 7 adds Noah, Lot, Moses/Pharaoh, Sinai, golden calf, Sabbath-fishing/apes, raised mountain, and major source-history comparisons.
QRQ-0010 — Continuity: Quran claims continuity with Torah/Gospel while also correcting earlier communities; manuscript evidence must test rather than assume that claim.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
Core research questions through Surah 10
QCA-0001 — Earlier Scripture / taḥrīf: OPEN. Surahs 9-10 add 9:111 (a promise claimed in Torah/Gospel/Quran), 10:15 (explicit “change it” vocabulary applied to Quran, with Muhammad denying independent alteration), 10:37 (Quran confirms what came before), and 10:94 (earlier Scripture readers used as confirmatory witnesses). These additions strengthen the need to distinguish textual corruption from concealment, distortion, false attribution, selective rejection, and interpretation.
QCA-0002 — Salvation / People of the Book: OPEN. 9:29 introduces military-political subordination/jizya for certain People of the Book alongside earlier inclusive-looking and exclusivist salvation formulations. Salvation, political status, communal law, and conversion cannot be collapsed into one question.
QCA-0003 — Legal development / abrogation: OPEN. 8:65-66 is the clearest internal command-modification datum so far: a 10:1 combat expectation is immediately lightened to 2:1 because God knows weakness. This establishes at minimum Quranic legal/command adjustment, while the later technical doctrine of naskh remains a separate question.
QCA-0004 — Warfare / fitnah / coercion: OPEN. Surah 8 requires treaty notice, accepts peace, and limits aid by treaty; Surah 9 contains 9:5, 9:29, 9:111 and 9:123. The Quran authorizes lethal religiously sanctioned warfare, but the text does not support a simple “kill all peaceful non-Muslims” model. Nor can the corpus be reduced to modern self-defense with religion irrelevant. Treaty status, hostility, religious identity, political submission, jizya, cessation, asylum, and inward belief must be distinguished.
QCA-0005 — Polygyny justice: no new decisive Surah 8-10 evidence; remains OPEN under the prior 4:3/4:129 analysis.
Guidance / hardening / responsibility flag: 8:23-24, 9:46, 9:75-77, 10:74, 10:88-100 intensify the tension. Human refusal and culpability remain explicit, yet God is also said to withhold, intervene in hearts, place hypocrisy, accept a hardening prayer, permit belief, and possess the power to make all believe. Judicial hardening remains a plausible model but is not yet a closed conclusion.
Messenger / Sunnah / hadith authority flag: Surahs 8-10 strengthen Quranic authority for obedience to Muhammad in his lifetime and show political, military, charitable, and religious leadership. They also place limits on him: correction at 9:43, ineffective intercession against divine judgment at 9:80, incomplete knowledge at 9:101, no independent alteration of revelation at 10:15, and command to follow revelation at 10:109. These facts do not by themselves authenticate every later hadith report; transmission history remains a separate phase.
Historical verification flags newly sharpened: 9:30 Ezra/ʿUzayr as “son of God”; 9:111 Torah/Gospel warfare-promise claim; 10:92 Pharaoh-body preservation; 10:94 earlier Scripture witness. Each is preserved for external textual/historical testing.
God is repeatedly merciful yet Master of Judgment; early narratives repeatedly place forgiveness after grave sin while preserving accountability. Evidence: 1:1-4; 2:25; 2:37; 2:51-54; 2:62.
Architecture status: these are evidence-grounded working structures, not closed theological systems. Later Quranic evidence may refine their content without creating a new tracking architecture.
Checkpoint 002 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-007 - Ritual-Moral Priority Architecture
Divinely commanded ritual → required obedience → ritual can change by divine command → ritual alone does not define righteousness → righteousness integrates belief, worship, ethics, generosity, covenant fidelity, and perseverance. Evidence: 2:142-150; 2:177.
Earlier revelation is affirmed/confirmed → people remain accountable to it → humans may conceal, distort, fabricate, selectively reject, or disregard → Quran presents itself as confirming/corrective guidance. Evidence: 2:75-121; 2:146; 2:159; 2:174.
God appoints practice → practice tests loyalty → God may appoint a changed practice → continuing obedience demonstrates submission. Evidence: 2:106; 2:142-150.
ARCH-QUR-010 - Abrahamic Continuity Architecture
Abrahamic monotheism → descendants/prophets → Moses/Jesus/revelation → Abraham/Ishmael Sacred House → future messenger → Quranic community claims continuity. Evidence: 2:124-151.
ARCH-QUR-011 - Identity Versus Righteousness Architecture
Communal label/ancestry/tradition ≠ automatic truth or salvation → submission to God + righteous conduct + covenant fidelity + perseverance are emphasized. Evidence: 2:111-112; 2:124; 2:134; 2:170; 2:177.
Checkpoint 003 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-012 - Proportional Justice Architecture
Wrongdoing/homicide/aggression → regulated response → proportionality → possible forgiveness/compensation → preservation of life/restraint. Evidence: 2:178-179; 2:190-194.
ARCH-QUR-013 - Legal Accommodation Architecture
General obligation → genuine hardship/danger/necessity → adapted performance or exception without abandoning divine authority. Evidence: 2:173; 2:184-187; 2:196; 2:238-239; 2:286.
ARCH-QUR-014 - Family Reciprocity-and-Asymmetry Architecture
Marriage/family law combines reciprocal intimacy/rights/consultation/non-harm/financial duties with explicit male-specific powers or status language. Evidence: 2:187; 2:221-241. Final shape awaits Surah 4.
Al-Fatihah asks for guidance → 2:2 identifies the Book as guidance → narratives/laws test human response → 2:285 resolves with “we hear and obey” → 2:286 personal accountability/mercy. This is the primary completed-Al-Baqarah architecture.
Checkpoint 004 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-012 - Quranic Christology Architecture
Jesus = Messiah + Word from God + virgin-born + extraordinary miracles by God's permission + honored/near to God + confirmer of Torah + recipient of Gospel; yet God is Jesus' Lord, worship belongs to God, and Adam is used to deny that miraculous creation establishes deity.
ARCH-QUR-013 - Scripture Affirmation / Human Mishandling Architecture
God gives authentic revelation → Quran confirms prior revelation → prior Scripture remains recited/usable → some humans conceal, twist, fabricate, selectively reject, or misrepresent → later revelation calls them back to truth.
Abraham and Jesus' disciples are described as muslim/submitting ones → Islam functions as submission to God across prophetic history, while later verses also connect submission to acceptance of the active messenger.
ARCH-QUR-015 - Revelation and Interpretive Risk Architecture
Book contains clear and ambiguous material → deviating hearts exploit ambiguity → faithful response seeks stability, guidance, and submission.
ARCH-QUR-016 - Abrahamic Legitimacy Architecture
Abraham predates Torah/Gospel labels → Quran claims Abraham as hanif/muslim → Sacred House/Bakkah linked to Abrahamic worship → contemporary community claims authentic Abrahamic continuity.
Checkpoint 005 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-017 - Defeat/Test Architecture
Divine promise/help → human disobedience/division/worldly desire → military reversal → grief/testing/exposure → repentance/pardon → renewed perseverance. Evidence: 3:121-168.
Common human origin → kinship obligation → protection of orphans/women/property → inheritance and marriage rules → divine judgment for exploitation. Evidence: 4:1-10.
Women receive property, inheritance, mahr, honorable treatment and protection against harmful retention, while men receive qawwāmah and an asymmetrical nushūz remedy. 4:128 confirms nushūz is reciprocal as a marital problem but not reciprocal in legal remedy.
Divine obligations remain while form adapts to capacity/circumstance: tayammum, danger prayer, migration exceptions, disability exemptions, accidental homicide remedies, and no numeric marriage-age rule in 4:6.
ARCH-QUR-021 - Conditional Warfare Architecture
Real armed violence is authorized under defined conflict conditions while treaties, neutrality, peace offers, verification, incapacity and noncombatant contexts constrain legitimate force.
ARCH-QUR-022 - Messenger Authority Architecture
God → revelation → Messenger conveys/judges/commands → derivative human authorities → disputes return to God and Messenger. Messenger authority is strong but not independent divine sovereignty.
Opponents claim killing → Quran denies killing and crucifixion → appearance/resemblance language remains unspecified → God raises Jesus → later doctrine must be separated from the Quran’s direct wording.
ARCH-QUR-024 - High-but-Nondivine Jesus Architecture
Jesus = Messiah + Word + Spirit from God + raised + miraculous, yet Messenger + servant; “Three” and divine walad rejected. This creates an elevated but explicitly non-divine Christology.
Whenever Jewish evidence is used: Tanakh/Hebrew Bible → Second Temple Judaism → Rabbinic Mishnah/Talmud/Midrash → later Jewish theology/practice. No retrojection across layers; source date controls explanatory weight.
Checkpoint 007 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-026 - Scripture Authority and Human Mishandling Architecture
Divine Torah/Gospel remain guidance, light, judgment-bearing and expected to be upheld → humans distort, conceal, forget, falsely attribute, or selectively reject → Quran confirms and functions as muhaymin/criterion without simply declaring earlier Scripture useless.
Same God/revelatory history → different communities may receive different shirʿah/minhāj → continuity does not require identical legal rules → Quran claims final supervisory authority.
ARCH-QUR-028 - Justice Beyond Bias Architecture
4:135 blocks favoritism toward self/family; 5:8 blocks injustice driven by hatred; justice is structurally insulated from both affection and hostility.
ARCH-QUR-029 - Allegiance Versus Social-Contact Architecture
5:5 permits food-sharing and Muslim male marriage with People-of-Book women while 5:51-56 restricts awliyāʾ allegiance; ordinary social contact and primary protective/religious loyalty are not identical categories.
2:219 warning → 4:43 intoxicated-prayer restriction → 5:90-91 avoidance → 5:93 no retroactive blame. Quranic law can develop in stages without treating earlier compliant conduct as retroactively sinful.
ARCH-QUR-031 - High Jesus / Anti-Deification Architecture
Jesus is Messiah, Word/Spirit-linked, virgin-born, miracle worker, raiser of dead, cradle speaker, and recipient of Gospel; nevertheless Quran rejects “God is Messiah,” “third of three,” worship of Jesus/Mary, and has Jesus teach strict monotheism.
ARCH-QUR-032 - Judaism Chronology in Comparative Source Analysis
Quranic narrative/source questions must distinguish Torah/Tanakh, Second Temple, rabbinic, and later Jewish material; 5:32/Mishnah Sanhedrin demonstrates the method’s necessity.
Checkpoint 008 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-033 — Evidence–Disposition–Divine-Will Architecture: Surah 6 repeatedly denies that evidence alone mechanically produces belief; signs interact with human disposition and divine guidance/hardening.
ARCH-QUR-034 — Messenger Limitation Architecture: Muhammad follows revelation, lacks independent unseen knowledge, does not control demanded miracles or judgment, and is not an angel; prophetic authority remains derivative.
ARCH-QUR-035 — Divine-Word Inviolability / Human-Mishandling Architecture: 6:34/115 say no changer of God’s words while 6:91 describes concealment/selective display. Divine inviolability and human misuse must not be collapsed into the same category.
ARCH-QUR-036 — Guidance and Accountability Architecture: God guides, misguides, opens, constricts and can prevent shirk; humans still reject, earn consequences and cannot use divine will as an excuse.
ARCH-QUR-037 — Abrahamic Continuity Architecture: Abraham rejects astral/idol worship as a ḥanīf; Muhammad is explicitly directed toward Abraham’s millah and earlier prophetic guidance.
ARCH-QUR-038 — Creator Self-Sufficiency Architecture: God feeds but is not fed, possesses the unseen, needs no consort, and remains categorically distinct from dependent creatures.
ARCH-QUR-039 — Human/Jinn Accountability Architecture: jinn and humans can influence one another, receive warning, form corrupt alliances and appear together at judgment.
ARCH-QUR-040 — Ethical-Core Architecture: 6:151-153 condenses monotheism, family duty, life protection, sexual/moral restraint, orphan/property justice, commercial honesty, truthful speech and covenant fidelity into a straight-path summary.
Checkpoint 009 Architecture Additions
ARCH-QUR-041 — Joint Adamic Accountability: Adam and wife are jointly tempted, eat, recognize exposure and repent; Quran does not assign unique deception culpability to the woman.
ARCH-QUR-042 — Primordial Accountability: 7:172-173 grounds human responsibility in a primordial testimony to divine lordship.
ARCH-QUR-043 — Scripture-Recognition Architecture: 7:157 claims Muhammad is findable in Torah/Gospel possessed by People of the Book, creating an externally testable bridge between Quranic theology and manuscript history.
ARCH-QUR-044 — Sabbath Judgment Architecture: 7:163-166 combines a specific Sabbath test involving fish, communal admonition and transformation into apes.
ARCH-QUR-045 — Prophetic Dependence Reaffirmed: 7:187-188/203 deny Muhammad independent unseen knowledge and autonomous production of revelation/signs.
ARCH-QUR-046 — Historical-Tradition Layer Control: Surah 7 requires strict separation of Torah narrative, Second Temple material, rabbinic expansion, Christian tradition, Quranic text and later tafsir.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
Theological / thematic architecture added by Surahs 8-10
Divine sovereignty and human agency: battlefield action (8:17), hearing and hearts (8:23-24), campaign participation (9:46), hypocrisy (9:75-77), Pharaoh hardening (10:88-89), universal belief (10:99), and belief by divine permission (10:100) create a cumulative sovereignty/responsibility complex.
Warfare, treaty, peace, and political order: Surah 8 integrates combat with treaty notice (8:58), deterrence (8:60), peace acceptance (8:61), and treaty-limited intervention (8:72). Surah 9 adds treaty disavowal and exceptions, asylum, jizya, collective mobilization, religious-political allegiance, and fighting/being killed for Paradise.
Messenger authority and limitation: obedience and command authority coexist with correction, limited intercession, limited knowledge, inability to change revelation independently, and mandatory following of revelation.
Earlier Scripture: 9:111, 10:37 and 10:94 add positive continuity/witness claims rather than a blanket declaration that Torah/Gospel text no longer exists. This strengthens the cumulative taḥrīf problem.
Monotheism and Christology: 10:68 repeats rejection of divine sonship. 9:30 pairs the Christian “Messiah son of God” claim with the historically problematic claim that Jews say ʿUzayr is son of God; representation accuracy remains a distinct research category.
Prophetic continuity: Noah, Moses, Aaron, Pharaoh and Jonah are used as precedents for Muhammad’s mission. Similarity to biblical narratives coexists with distinctive Quranic additions such as Pharaoh’s drowning confession/body sign and Moses’ hardening prayer.
Community formation: spoils, zakat recipients, military participation, exemptions, treaty obligations, mosque legitimacy, communal solidarity, religious learning (9:122), and proximity-based fighting (9:123) show increasingly concrete political/legal community structure.
Quran Research Project - Master Block 001 (Surahs 1-10) - Corrected Full-Schema Build
Coverage: Surah 1:1-7; 2:1-286; 3:1-200; 4:1-176; 5:1-120; 6:1-165; 7:1-206; 8:1-75; 9:1-129; 10:1-109 | Built September 14, 2026
Current Status
No QI record has yet reached the threshold for formal registration through Quran 2:74.
Flagged but Not Yet Registered
Iblis and the angelic command scene (2:34): Iblis is present in the command-to-angels narrative, while later Quranic evidence is known to identify him as jinn. Under the Constitution, this remains a flagged issue until the relevant later verse is reached and context can be analyzed. No contradiction is presumed.
This document intentionally preserves a zero-result category rather than inventing a tension.
Iblis/angels/jinn remains flagged but not registered as QI until later Quranic evidence is reached.
rūḥ al-qudus versus Jibrīl: 2:87 and 2:97 use different designations; no QI issue is presumed. Identity relationship remains open.
2:106 naskh language versus Quranic preservation/unchangeable-word passages remains a future QI possibility only if later evidence creates an unresolved conflict.
Earlier-Scripture affirmation versus distortion accusations remains under QCA-0001 and the major taḥrīf flag. It is not classified as QI unless the distinctions fail after full Quranic analysis.
Checkpoint 003 Internal-Consistency Watch
No formal QI contradiction is established through completion of Surah 2.
2:136/2:285 “make no distinction” among messengers versus 2:253 “favored some over others” is provisionally harmonizable as equal acceptance versus unequal rank; no QI ID warranted.
2:234 versus 2:240 widow provisions remain under QCA-0003 because they may concern different legal subjects; no contradiction presumed.
2:184 versus 2:185 fasting provisions remain an abrogation/development question, not a QI contradiction.
2:256 no-compulsion language versus later warfare/apostasy/jizyah material is now an explicit future consistency/claims-audit watch; QCA-0004 controls until later evidence is reached.
Prior Iblis angel/jinn, rūḥ al-qudus/Jibrīl, and taḥrīf affirmation/distortion questions remain pending as previously recorded.
3:7 clear/ambiguous verse distinction raises hermeneutical questions but no contradiction.
3:55 mutawaffika/raising must be compared with 4:157-158 before any QI issue is considered.
3:85 versus 2:62 and 3:113-115 remains under QCA-0002, not yet QI; semantic range of al-Islam is central.
Earlier-Scripture affirmation versus distortion continues under QCA-0001; 3:93 strengthens the case that these can potentially coexist through mechanism/scope distinctions.
No formal QI record is established through Quran 3:120.
No formal QI contradiction is established through Quran 3:200.
3:199 materially informs, but does not by itself close, the salvation tension between 2:62, 3:85, and positive People-of-the-Book passages.
3:187 continues to support a coherent distinction between extant revelation and human concealment/mishandling, so no Scripture-affirmation QI is warranted yet.
Jesus death/raising, abrogation, Sabbath, and later warfare/coercion questions remain pending for later canonical evidence.
4:3 versus 4:129: polygyny conditioned on justice versus impossibility of complete equality. A plausible internal distinction exists between perfect emotional equality and enforceable behavioral/material fairness; therefore no QI contradiction is registered.
3:55 versus 4:157-159: Jesus’ mutawaffika, raising, crucifixion denial and “before his death” remain a genuine interpretive cluster, not yet a formal contradiction.
4:78 versus 4:79: “all from God” and “evil from yourself” are provisionally distinguished as sovereignty versus culpability; no QI record.
4:48/116 and wider repentance passages: unique shirk severity must be integrated with repentance corpus before any inconsistency claim.
4:15-16 versus later sexual-offense law remains an abrogation/development question under QCA-0003, not a QI finding.
Earlier-Scripture affirmation versus distortion remains under QCA-0001; Surah 4 adds evidence that can coexist under mechanism/scope distinctions.
No formal QI contradiction is established through Surah 4:176.
Checkpoint 007 Internal-Consistency Watch
5:5 versus 5:51: no QI contradiction; intermarriage/food-sharing can coexist with restricted primary awliyāʾ allegiance.
5:69 versus 3:85 remains under QCA-0002; 3:199 and 5:82-85 provide plausible harmonization through acceptance of current revelation.
5:43-48/66/68 versus distortion/forgetting passages remain under QCA-0001; the categories can coexist if Scripture remains extant while humans mishandle it.
5:73/116 do not create an internal Quran contradiction, but they intensify external representation questions about Christianity.
5:117 w-f-y remains to be reconciled lexically with 3:55 and 4:157-159 before any QI record could be justified.
No formal QI contradiction is established through Surah 5:120.
Checkpoint 007 Internal-Consistency Status
No new formal QI ID assigned. Open issues remain routed through established QCA/QB/lexical research rather than manufactured contradiction labels.
Checkpoint 008 Internal-Tension Review
No new formal QI contradiction is registered through Quran 6:165.
Guidance / misguidance remains a major analytical tension: 6:39, 6:107, 6:111, 6:125 and 6:149 stress divine control, while 6:110 and 6:148 preserve prior human refusal and reject divine-will excuses. Plausible harmonizations remain available; therefore no contradiction classification is warranted yet.
6:38 “nothing neglected in the Book” versus the physical Quran is not a contradiction; 6:59 strongly supports a divine-record referent in this context.
5:3 versus 6:145 dietary lists are readily harmonized as detailed versus summary treatment of core prohibitions.
6:34/115 divine-word inviolability versus earlier accusations of distortion/concealment creates a major interpretive question for QCA-0001, but different referents/mechanisms prevent premature QI classification.
6:128 “abiding in Fire except as God wills” creates an eschatological-duration question; later corpus evidence is required.
Checkpoint 009 QI Status
No formal QI contradiction is registered through Quran 7:206.
Guidance/misguidance versus human accountability is materially strengthened by 7:16, 7:178-179 and 7:186 but remains an analytical tension requiring full-corpus testing, not a demonstrated contradiction.
7:189-190 creates an interpretive ambiguity concerning the couple associated with shirk; ambiguity is not contradiction.
7:157 creates an externally testable historical/textual verification problem regarding Muhammad in Torah/Gospel; it is tracked under QB-0138 and QCA-0001, not registered as an internal QI contradiction.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
QI status through Surah 10
No formal permanent QI entry is created through Surah 10. Apparent tensions involving guidance/hardening, warfare/peace, earlier Scripture, and command modification remain under QCA/cross-reference analysis until the Quran supplies enough evidence to classify an actual internal contradiction rather than a tension, qualification, development, or unresolved interpretive problem.
Quran Research Project - Master Block 001 (Surahs 1-10) - Corrected Full-Schema Build
Coverage: Surah 1:1-7; 2:1-286; 3:1-200; 4:1-176; 5:1-120; 6:1-165; 7:1-206; 8:1-75; 9:1-129; 10:1-109 | Built September 14, 2026
QCA-0001 - The Quran Says the Earlier Bible Was Textually Corrupted
Status: OPEN - NOT ESTABLISHED through 2:74
Evidence accumulated
2:4 positively requires belief in earlier revelation.
2:41 says the new revelation confirms what is 'with you'.
2:44 portrays the audience as reciting al-kitab.
2:53 attributes al-kitab/al-furqan to Moses.
2:63 commands holding firmly to what was given.
2:42 accuses mixing truth with falsehood and concealing truth.
2:58-59 accuses wrongdoers of substituting a specific commanded word/instruction.
Checkpoint assessment: Current evidence establishes genuine earlier revelation plus accusations of concealment, false mixing, disobedience, and specific substitution. It does not yet establish a Quranic doctrine that the entire written Torah/Gospel text had been manuscript-corrupted.
Final determination: DEFERRED pending additional Quranic evidence.
QCA-0002 - According to the Quran, Can Jews and Christians Be Saved Without Becoming Muslims?
Status: OPEN
Evidence accumulated
2:62 explicitly names Jews, Christians, and Sabians and gives a positive reward/no-fear/no-grief formula to whoever believes in God, the Last Day, and does righteousness.
Some English translations insert interpretive brackets limiting the statement to people before Muhammad; the Arabic clause itself must be tracked independently of such additions.
Checkpoint assessment: No final determination. Later Quranic passages concerning Islam, People of the Book, Jesus, Muhammad, and judgment must be integrated.
Final determination: DEFERRED pending additional Quranic evidence.
Checkpoint 002 Claims Audit Updates
QCA-0001 - The Quran Says the Earlier Bible Was Textually Corrupted
Status: OPEN - considerably expanded through 2:177
Current synthesis: the Quran clearly alleges multiple kinds of human corruption/mishandling, but wholesale textual corruption of all Torah/Gospel manuscripts is not yet established.
Major pending flag integrated: THE ALLEGED CORRUPTION OF EARLIER SCRIPTURE (TAḤRĪF). The final audit must distinguish textual alteration, interpretive distortion, oral distortion, concealment, fabrication, selective observance/rejection, and combinations; define Quranic Tawrat/Injil; test every specific corruption allegation against pre-Islamic manuscripts and chronology; trace Islamic doctrine history; and keep 'what the Quran claims' separate from 'what manuscript history demonstrates.'
QCA-0002 - Can Jews and Christians Be Saved Without Becoming Muslims?
Status: OPEN.
2:62 remains major positive evidence naming Jews and Christians.
2:111 rejects mere Jewish/Christian communal identity as proof of Paradise.
2:112 emphasizes submission to God and doing good.
2:177 integrates belief and righteous conduct. Later passages about Islam, Muhammad, Jesus, and People of the Book remain necessary before final determination.
QCA-0003 - Does the Quran Teach Abrogation of Its Own Commands?
Status: OPEN - principle of changed divine legislation directly established; textual scope unresolved.
2:106 explicitly uses naskh/replacement language concerning an āyah.
2:142-150 explicitly changes a prior qiblah and describes the earlier practice as divinely appointed for testing.
2:164 shows āyah can mean cosmic/natural sign, so 2:106 cannot be assumed to mean 'Quranic verse' solely from the word itself.
Future evidence including 16:101 and later naskh tradition is required.
Pending Christology Research Flag
When later Quranic passages explicitly connect Jesus with the claim of divine sonship, determine whether the Quran accurately represents the Christian doctrine it rejects. Distinguish biological/procreative offspring, adoptionist sonship, and the pre-Islamic Nicene/Chalcedonian doctrine of the eternal Son's relationship to the Father. Integrate with QRQ-0002 and QB-0028; no conclusion is prejudged.
Pending Sabbath / Sabbath-Breakers Research Flags
The earlier Sabbath-apes flag and the broader Sabbath institution flag remain pending. When canonical research reaches 4:47, 4:154, 5:60, 7:163-166, 16:124 and related passages, analyze al-sabt linguistically and historically, distinguish Torah Sabbath rules from later Jewish law and tafsir details, identify the actual offense in Quran 7, investigate pre-Quranic antecedents and historical evidence, and integrate with QB-0020 without creating a new tracking category.
Checkpoint 003 Claims Audit Updates
QCA-0001 - The Quran Says the Earlier Bible Was Textually Corrupted
Status: OPEN after completion of Surah 2.
Surah 2 establishes multiple human mishandling modes (concealment, deliberate distortion, fabrication, selective rejection, disregard) while repeatedly affirming/confirming/reciting prior revelation. Wholesale textual corruption of the entire Torah/Gospel textual tradition remains unestablished. Major taḥrīf research flag remains fully active.
QCA-0002 - Can Jews and Christians Be Saved Without Becoming Muslims?
Status: OPEN after completion of Surah 2.
2:62 remains the strongest inclusive-sounding formula; 2:111-112 rejects communal identity as sufficient; the surah closes by requiring belief in God, angels, Books and messengers. Later People-of-the-Book/Islam/Muhammad/Jesus passages are necessary.
QCA-0003 - Does the Quran Teach Abrogation of Its Own Commands?
Status: OPEN; legislative change is directly established, scope of textual abrogation unresolved.
2:106 - naskh/āyah replacement language.
2:142-150 - concrete qiblah change.
2:180 versus later Surah 4 - bequest/inheritance watch.
2:184-185 - fasting-rule development watch.
2:219 → 4:43 → 5:90-91 - intoxicant development watch.
3:81: later messenger confirms what earlier prophetic communities possess.
3:93: opponents are challenged to bring the Torah and recite it as evidence.
Working synthesis: human distortion/misuse is clearly taught; total textual corruption of all usable Torah/Gospel copies remains unestablished.
Status: OPEN - interpretive tension intensified.
2:62 provides a positive formula explicitly naming Jews and Christians.
3:19 and 3:85 state that al-Islam is the religion accepted by God.
3:113-115 explicitly says People of the Book are not all alike and positively describes a righteous subgroup whose good is not denied.
Key question: whether al-Islam here denotes transhistorical submission, explicit membership in Muhammad's community, or both.
QCA-0003 - Abrogation
No new closed determination. 3:50 adds an important continuity-plus-legal-modification example: Jesus confirms Torah while making some forbidden things lawful.
QCA-0004 - Forced Conversion
3:20 adds evidence that the Messenger's duty in the face of rejection is conveyance. Later warfare and legal texts remain necessary.
Pending Christology Flag
Preserved: determine whether later Quranic rejection of Jesus as Son accurately represents biological/procreative, adoptionist, or Nicene/Chalcedonian Christian sonship.
Pending Injīl Identity Question
Determine whether al-Injīl denotes a physical written text, revelation/teaching given to Jesus, the message preached by Jesus, canonical Gospel tradition, or another conception. 3:48 supports revelation/teaching associated with Jesus but does not settle identity.
Pending Cradle-Speech Source-History Flag
QDISC-0191 / QB-0053. Canonical NT has no infant-Jesus speech miracle; Luke 1:39-45 is explicitly not a parallel. At 19:29-33 investigate earliest secure pre-Quranic witnesses, Arabic/Syriac infancy traditions, manuscript dating versus reconstructed earlier strata, and whether dependence, shared milieu, or historical indeterminacy best fits the evidence.
Checkpoint 005 Claims Audit Updates
Status: OPEN - concealment model strengthened by 3:187.
3:187 explicitly commands Scripture recipients to make revelation clear and not conceal it.
The verse then accuses some of throwing it behind their backs and exchanging it for a small price.
This fits existing categories of concealment/disregard rather than proving total manuscript loss.
3:93 remains especially important because Torah is still invoked as recitable evidence.
Status: OPEN - possible harmonization materially strengthened by 3:199.
3:199 describes a rewarded subgroup among People of the Book who believe in God, what was revealed to Muhammad, and what was revealed to themselves.
This suggests the positively accepted subgroup may be defined by accepting the current messenger/revelation rather than by rejecting Muhammad while remaining otherwise righteous.
2:62 and 3:113-115 still require full contextual integration before closure.
No new decisive evidence in 3:121-200; existing cases remain active.
3:186 adds evidence that hostile verbal abuse is met with patience and taqwa rather than an automatic command to use violence. Later Surahs 8, 9, 22, 47, 60 remain necessary.
Pending Warfare/Apostasy Questions
The Quranic warfare corpus remains incomplete. 3:121-175 is preserved as contextual evidence of community defense, battle discipline, disobedience, defeat, martyrdom, and divine testing, not as a standalone definition of all Islamic warfare.
Checkpoint 006 Claims Audit Updates
Status: OPEN - Surah 4 materially strengthens the human-mishandling-plus-continuing-Scripture model.
4:46: distortion of words and tongue-twisting.
4:47: Quran confirms what is with People of the Book.
4:136: believers are commanded to believe Scripture sent down before.
4:162: knowledgeable People of the Book/believers affirm present and prior revelation.
Current synthesis: the Quran clearly alleges concealment, oral/contextual distortion, fabrication, selective rejection and misuse, but total textual corruption of all usable Torah/Gospel copies remains unestablished through Surah 4.
Status: OPEN; no final resolution in Surah 4. Reward remains tied to belief, righteous action and acceptance of genuine revelation.
QCA-0003 - Abrogation / Progressive Legislation
Status: OPEN - Surah 4 adds several test cases.
4:43 continues the intoxicant sequence after 2:219 and before 5:90-91.
4:77 explicitly remembers a prior restraint phase before later fighting prescription.
4:15-16 sexual-misconduct penalties must be compared with later Surah 24 legislation.
Existing bequest/inheritance and widow-law cases remain pending.
4:94 requires verification before treating a peaceful person as a legitimate target.
No Surah 4 verse requires all non-Muslims to convert under threat; Surahs 8-9 remain crucial.
QCA-0005 - Polygyny Justice Question
Status: OPEN - apparent tension with plausible internal harmonization.
4:3 permits up to four wives if justice can be maintained; otherwise one.
4:129 says complete equality among wives is unattainable even if desired, then forbids total inclination that leaves another suspended.
Working distinction: 4:3 may concern enforceable material/behavioral justice while 4:129 acknowledges unavoidable emotional inclination. This remains to be tested against Arabic, tafsir chronology, and wider Quranic marriage corpus.
Pending Marriageable-Age Research Question
Quran 4:6 does not give a numerical age. It refers to reaching marriageability and separately requires rushd before property is returned. Later hadith/fiqh rules about puberty, ages, guardianship and consummation must remain separate evidence layers.
Pending Adam/Eve Bible-Quran Comparison Flag
When Quranic Adam material is cumulatively complete, compare Genesis 3 with 1 Timothy 2:14 and 2 Corinthians 11:3. Determine whether Quran merely omits Eve’s individual deception or materially reallocates temptation/deception/transgression. Omission is not contradiction.
Comparative Judaism Chronology Flag
Whenever Judaism is relevant, distinguish Hebrew Bible/Tanakh; Second Temple Judaism; Rabbinic Judaism (Mishnah/Talmud/Midrash); and later Jewish theology/practice. Chronology is mandatory; do not retroject later rabbinic or medieval material into biblical or pre-Quranic periods. After Surah 114, plan a dedicated thematic Judaism phase rather than another full verse-by-verse project.
Pending Christology / Sonship / Trinity Representation Flag
4:171 now directly rejects “Three” and divine walad while calling Jesus Messiah, Messenger, Word and Spirit from God. The substantive theological contradiction is established; the separate accuracy question remains open: does the Quran accurately represent pre-Islamic Nicene/Chalcedonian sonship and Trinity, or a different/biological/sectarian conception?
Pending Jesus Death / Raising Question
Integrate 3:55 mutawaffika with 4:157-159 and later Quranic material. Quran clearly denies crucifixion and affirms raising, but the timing/nature of Jesus’ death remains unresolved in the Quranic text alone.
Checkpoint 007 Claims Audit Updates
QCA-0001 - Earlier Scripture / Taḥrīf
Status: OPEN - evidentiary direction now strong against blanket total textual-corruption claims.
5:13-15 adds distortion, forgetting, and concealment mechanisms.
5:43 says Jews have Torah containing God’s judgment.
5:44 calls Torah guidance and light and speaks of custodianship.
5:46 calls Gospel guidance and light; 5:47 commands Gospel people to judge by God’s revelation in it.
5:48 says Quran confirms earlier Scripture and is muhaymin over it.
5:66 and 5:68 command People of the Book to uphold Torah and Gospel.
Working synthesis: the Quran clearly teaches serious human mishandling of earlier revelation while still treating authentic Torah/Gospel as extant and usable. Wholesale universal textual corruption remains unestablished.
QCA-0002 - Salvation of Jews and Christians
Status: OPEN - harmonization strengthened.
5:69 repeats the 2:62 inclusive-looking formula.
5:82-85 positively describes Christians who hear, recognize, and accept Muhammad’s revelation and are rewarded.
3:199 likewise describes rewarded People of the Book who believe in current and prior revelation.
Provisional harmonization: faithful submitters must accept genuine revelation appropriate to them, including a current messenger when authentically received.
QCA-0003 - Abrogation / Progressive Legislation
Status: OPEN as a formal abrogation doctrine; progressive legislation strongly established.
2:219 → 4:43 → 5:90-91 is a clear staged intoxicant sequence.
5:93 explicitly avoids retroactive blame for prior consumption, strongly supporting legal development over time.
5:48 also supports distinct community-specific law without implying all legal difference is corruption.
QCA-0004 - Forced Conversion
Status: OPEN. Surah 5 adds strong community-allegiance language but no general command to force conversion; earlier no-compulsion, conveyance, peace, and neutrality evidence remains controlling until later warfare surahs are analyzed.
QCA-0005 - Polygyny Justice Question
No material new Surah 5 evidence; remains OPEN with plausible 4:3/4:129 distinction between enforceable conduct and complete emotional equality.
Pending Christology / Sonship / Trinity Representation Flag
Surah 5 sharply intensifies this flag: 5:17/72 reject “God is Messiah”; 5:73 rejects “third of three”; 5:116 asks whether Jesus told people to take him and Mary as two gods besides God. Orthodox Nicene Christianity does not include Mary in the Trinity, so representation accuracy now requires dedicated Late Antique Christian/Marian source research.
Pending Injīl Identity Question
5:46-47 materially strengthens the question: Gospel is divine guidance/light and an existing People-of-Gospel community is commanded to judge by what God revealed in it. Any lost-original-Gospel model must explain how this command functioned historically.
Pending Sabbath / Apes Research Flag
5:60 explicitly uses qiradah (apes) and khanāzīr (swine). The offense and literal/metaphorical transformation question remain pending for 7:163-166 and the full source-history investigation.
Pending Cradle-Speech Source-History Flag
5:110 adds a second explicit Quranic cradle-speech reference alongside 3:46; full pre-Quranic source-history remains deferred to 19:29-33 with Luke 1:39-45 explicitly excluded as a speech parallel.
Pending Jesus Death / Raising Question
5:117 adds tawaffaytanī from the w-f-y root to 3:55 and 4:157-159. The Quran clearly denies crucifixion and affirms raising, but timing/nature of Jesus’ death remains lexically unresolved.
Checkpoint 008 Claims-Audit Updates — Through Surah 6:165
QCA-0001 — Earlier Scripture / Taḥrīf: Strengthened toward “authentic prior revelation remains positively recognized while humans conceal, distort, selectively display, forget or falsely attribute.” 6:91 calls Moses’ Book light/guidance and describes showing some/concealing much; 6:92 says Quran confirms prior revelation; 6:115 says none can change God’s words; 6:154 again calls Mosaic Scripture detailed guidance/mercy. Blanket total textual rewriting remains unestablished by the Quranic text reached so far.
QCA-0002 — Salvation / People of Book: No major reversal in Surah 6. Judgment remains tied to belief, deeds, repentance, mercy and response to current warning; repeated recognition claims (6:20/114) increase the importance of how People of Book are expected to identify Muhammad.
QCA-0003 — Legal Development / Abrogation: 6:145 versus 5:3 supports summary/detail harmonization rather than contradiction; 6:146 adds differentiated Jewish dietary law/rationale. Progressive-legislation finding from alcohol remains intact.
QCA-0004 — Forced Conversion / Warfare: 6:68 prescribes withdrawal from mockery in that context; 6:66-70 distinguishes warning from controlling another’s response. Evidence through Surah 6 still does not support indiscriminate forced conversion. Surahs 8-9 remain decisive future tests.
QCA-0005 — Polygyny Justice: No material new Surah 6 evidence; prior 4:3/4:129 analysis remains open.
Open analytical issue — Divine Guidance and Human Responsibility: Surah 6 now clearly teaches both active divine guidance/misguidance and creaturely accountability. 6:148 explicitly refuses divine will as an excuse. Preserve for full-corpus analysis; do not promote to QI contradiction while coherent judicial-hardening/compatibilist readings remain textually possible.
Open analytical issue — Jesus death/raising: 6:60-61 proves w-f-y semantic range includes both sleep and death contexts. Root meaning alone cannot decide 3:55 or 5:117.
Open analytical issue — Divine sonship representation: 6:101 strengthens the question by arguing against walad from God’s lack of a consort, whereas Nicene Christianity rejects biological divine procreation.
Checkpoint 009 — Claims Audit Updates
QCA-0001 — Earlier Scripture / Taḥrīf: 7:157 says Muhammad is findable “written with them” in Torah/Gospel; 7:169-170 depicts later Israelites inheriting/studying/holding firmly to the Book. Deep manuscript investigation found substantial pre-Islamic continuity of Torah and canonical Gospel traditions and no positive evidence for a separate lost Torah/Injīl predicting Muhammad. Blanket total textual corruption remains unestablished and increasingly difficult to derive directly from Quranic wording.
QCA-0002 — Salvation / People of Book: 7:157 ties following Muhammad to success while 7:159 preserves a truth-guided community among Moses’ people. Earlier inclusive/exclusivist evidence remains open for full synthesis.
QCA-0003 — Legal Development / Abrogation: Sabbath material shows distinct covenantal law applied to Israel; no new technical abrogation conclusion.
QCA-0004 — Forced Conversion / Warfare: 7:88 portrays opponents coercing Shuʿayb/believers back into ancestral religion negatively; 7:199 commands forbearance/turning from ignorant. Evidence through Surah 7 still does not establish indiscriminate forced conversion. Surahs 8-9 are now the crucial next test.
QCA-0005 — Polygyny Justice: no material Surah 7 update.
Open issue — Guidance/Human Responsibility: 7:16,178-179,186 strengthen the dual pattern of divine guidance/misguidance plus human culpability.
Open issue — Muhammad in Earlier Scripture: QB-0138 now classified as a major externally testable historical/textual verification problem, not yet an internal logical contradiction.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
QCA-0001 — Earlier Scripture / taḥrīf — OPEN
Through Surah 10 the Quran accuses human actors of concealment, tongue twisting/oral manipulation, false attribution, selective rejection, distortion from proper place/context, fabrication, forgetting a portion, and displaying some while concealing much. At the same time it repeatedly treats earlier revelation as extant and normatively meaningful: 5:43-48; 5:66-68; 6:91-115; 6:154-157; 7:157; 7:169-170; 9:111; 10:37; 10:94. 10:15 is especially important because the Quran uses explicit change/substitution language and Muhammad denies authority to change the Quran himself. Current classification: wholesale pre-Muhammad textual destruction/corruption of Torah and Gospel is not directly established through Surah 10; partial textual corruption, interpretive distortion, concealment, and an “original Injīl” model remain to be tested against the full Quran and manuscript history.
QCA-0002 — Salvation / People of the Book — OPEN
2:62 and 5:69 remain inclusive-looking; 3:19 and 3:85 remain exclusivist; 3:199 and 5:83-85 positively describe People of the Book accepting revelation. Surah 9 adds a distinct political/legal question: 9:29 commands fighting certain People of the Book until jizya/subordinate status. Do not collapse eschatological salvation, communal membership, political submission, and conversion into one category.
QCA-0003 — Legal development / command modification — OPEN
8:65-66 provides explicit internal evidence of a command/burden being lightened: the combat expectation changes from ten-to-one to two-to-one because God knows weakness. This joins the earlier progressive alcohol material and differentiated communal law evidence. It supports Quranic command development/modification; whether and how later technical naskh doctrine maps onto these cases remains a separate historical-juristic question.
QCA-0004 — Warfare / fitnah / coercion — OPEN
Surah 8 and 9 require a multi-factor model. Lethal religiously sanctioned warfare is explicit (8:12; 8:39; 9:5; 9:29; 9:111; 9:123). Yet treaty fidelity is explicit (8:58; 8:72; 9:4; 9:7), asylum/safe escort is explicit (9:6), peace acceptance is explicit (8:61), cessation is contemplated (8:19; 8:38), and genuine exemptions exist (9:91-92; 9:122 rejects universal simultaneous mobilization). 9:29 cannot be reduced to a verse that itself says “fight only because they attacked first”; its wording includes religious identity/belief and jizya/subordination. Conversely, 9:5 cannot responsibly be generalized into “kill every peaceful polytheist” because 9:4, 9:6, 9:7 and 9:12-14 constrain the surrounding discourse. 10:99 rejects compelling everyone until they believe, which distinguishes inward belief from political/military submission. Current classification: neither indiscriminate-killing apologetic caricature nor purely modern self-defense reduction fits the complete evidence through Surah 10.
QCA-0005 — Polygyny justice — OPEN
No decisive new evidence in Surahs 8-10. Prior 4:3/4:129 analysis remains: plausible distinction between required behavioral/material justice and impossible perfect equality of affection; continue through full corpus.
Associated cumulative flags
Guidance/hardening remains open and is intensified by 8:23-24; 9:46; 9:75-77; 10:74; 10:88-100. Messenger/Sunnah authority remains open: Quranic obedience to Muhammad is strong, but Surahs 9-10 also document correction, limited intercession, limited knowledge, inability to alter revelation independently, and command to follow revelation. These data must later be separated from the historical reliability of surviving hadith corpora.
Quran Research Project - Master Block 001 (Surahs 1-10) - Corrected Full-Schema Build
Coverage: Surah 1:1-7; 2:1-286; 3:1-200; 4:1-176; 5:1-120; 6:1-165; 7:1-206; 8:1-75; 9:1-129; 10:1-109 | Built September 14, 2026
Scope at Checkpoint 002
No manuscript-preservation conclusion is warranted yet. The current textual-history record is intentionally limited to claims actually encountered through 2:74.
Early Textual Claims Encountered
2:2 presents al-kitab as guidance.
2:23-24 issues a produce-a-surah challenge to doubters.
2:41 describes current revelation as confirming what is with the addressed Israelite audience.
2:44 portrays people as reciting al-kitab.
2:53 attributes al-kitab and al-furqan to Moses.
Historical/Narrative Questions Opened
2:63 mountain-raised-above-Israel motif: compare canonical Exodus and Jewish interpretive traditions.
2:65-66 Sabbath-breakers-to-apes motif: no direct canonical biblical counterpart identified at this stage.
2:67-73 cow and unsolved murder: investigate possible relationship to Deuteronomy 21 and later Jewish traditions.
2:54 lethal judgment after golden calf: compare Arabic, Exodus 32:25-29, and early tafsir.
Methodological Status
Similarity is not treated as proof of borrowing. Absence from the canonical Bible is classified as addition unless a mutually incompatible claim is established.
Checkpoint 002 Historical/Textual Questions Added
Taḥrīf manuscript-history requirement: compare Quranic corruption claims with Dead Sea Scrolls, Septuagint traditions, Samaritan Pentateuch, early Hebrew evidence, New Testament papyri/codices, early translations, and patristic quotations predating Islam.
Specific-Corruption Test is mandatory for later claims: identify passage, alleged original, alleged changed form, agent, date, manuscript chronology, independent evidence, and reconstruction feasibility.
Solomon-Harut-Marut: investigate pre-Quranic Jewish, Christian, magical, Syriac, Babylonian, and Late Antique traditions linking Solomon with magic and named angelic figures.
Abraham/Ishmael and Sacred House: investigate earliest evidence connecting Abraham/Ishmael with Mecca/Kaʿbah and distinguish Quranic claim, pre-Islamic Arabian tradition, later Islamic tradition, and independent historical evidence.
Ṣafā-Marwah: investigate pre-Islamic ritual practice and historical context.
Qiblah: distinguish Quranic statement of a prior direction from later historical identification of Jerusalem; investigate earliest Islamic and external evidence.
Christology flag: use pre-Islamic creeds and Christian writings to establish what Christians meant by Son of God before evaluating Quranic representation.
Chronological Control Rule Applied
Any claim that a biblical reading was altered because it conflicts with the Quran must be tested against manuscripts demonstrably predating Muhammad. Earlier manuscript attestation does not automatically equal autograph originality, but it constrains claims of later alteration.
Checkpoint 003 Historical/Textual Questions Added
Qiṣāṣ status formula (2:178): investigate pre-Islamic Arabian blood-feud practice and early Islamic legal interpretation before determining whether category matching values lives differently or restrains tribal excess.
Ramadan/fasing continuity: compare biblical fasting practices and Late Antique Jewish/Christian fasts without assuming an earlier month-long equivalent.
Warfare: reconstruct immediate historical contexts of 2:190-217 and distinguish Quranic wording from later sīrah/fiqh expansions.
Apostasy: trace Quranic passages separately from hadith-based death-penalty doctrine and determine earliest legal development.
Intoxicants: track chronological progression 2:219 → 4:43 → 5:90-91 and earliest tafsir/fiqh claims of abrogation.
Gender/family law: distinguish Quranic rules from later fiqh on testimony, guardianship, divorce, halalah, and menstruation.
Tālūt narrative: investigate Jewish, Christian, Syriac and Late Antique narrative traditions for Ark authentication and Gideon-like river test motifs.
Ribā: establish pre-Islamic Arabian lending practices and compare Quranic usage with Torah usury rules before mapping to modern interest.
2:282 testimony: compare Late Antique Jewish, Roman, Byzantine and Arabian evidentiary law before historical evaluation.
2:256 no-compulsion: trace earliest exegetical context, abrogation claims, and legal application only after the full Quranic corpus is collected.
Checkpoint 004 Historical/Textual Questions Added
Checkpoint 004 Historical and Textual Research Additions
Taḥrīf chronology: 3:93 now requires direct comparison between Quranic appeal to the Torah and demonstrably pre-Islamic Torah manuscript traditions.
Injīl identity: establish what pre-Islamic Christians meant by euangelion/gospel and compare with Quranic singular al-Injīl.
Christology: compare Quranic Word/Messiah/virgin-birth/miracle claims with first-century canonical evidence and later pre-Islamic creedal development.
Cradle speech: canonical NT has no parallel; surviving later Arabic infancy texts contain cradle speech, but pre-Quranic written attestation and hypothetical Syriac antecedents must be dated cautiously.
Mary's upbringing and clay-bird narratives: investigate Protoevangelium of James, Infancy Gospel of Thomas, Syriac/Arabic transmission, and Late Antique circulation without inferring borrowing solely from similarity.
Mary/Imran/Aaron genealogy: compare Quran 3, future 19:28, biblical Miriam/Amram/Aaron, and classical Muslim explanations before classifying.
Bakkah/Kaʿbah: investigate earliest external references to Mecca/Bakkah and any pre-Islamic Abraham/Ishmael sanctuary connection.
3:93 Specific-Corruption Test application: if a claimant says the Torah appealed to here was materially different from surviving pre-Islamic Torah witnesses, identify the exact alleged reading and evidence.
Checkpoint 005 Historical/Textual Questions Added
Checkpoint 005 Historical and Textual Research Additions
Checkpoint 005 Historical/Textual Additions
Battle of Uhud identification: distinguish Quranic wording from sīrah/hadith reconstruction; Badr is explicitly named in 3:123, while much surrounding material is traditionally identified as Uhud.
Angelic assistance at Badr/Uhud: classify as supernatural historical claim; ordinary historical methods can assess textual attestation and battle context but not directly verify angels.
3:181 “God is poor” claim: investigate Jewish/Christian polemical and exegetical background before attributing it to any community generally.
3:183 fire-consumed sacrifice: investigate biblical altar-fire narratives and Jewish expectations for prophetic authentication.
3:187 taḥrīf relevance: compare command to clarify Scripture against pre-Islamic manuscript evidence and later Muslim textual-corruption doctrine.
3:199 salvation context: investigate early tafsir identification of the praised People of the Book while preserving the Quranic wording first.
Checkpoint 006 Historical/Textual Questions Added
Checkpoint 006 Historical/Textual Additions
Checkpoint 006 Historical and Textual Research Additions
Crucifixion: distinguish Quranic denial from canonical NT, Pauline evidence, early second-century Christian testimony, Roman/Jewish external evidence, and modern historical consensus. Current ordinary-historical assessment strongly favors crucifixion under Pontius Pilate.
Pre-Islamic crucifixion alternatives: document Basilidean/docetic/substitution traditions carefully; their existence proves antecedents, not Quranic borrowing or historical truth.
shubbiha lahum: investigate earliest tafsir/hadith substitution explanations and their chronology; do not treat Judas/Simon/volunteer-disciple stories as explicit Quran.
Marriage age: compare Quran 4:6 wording with seventh-century Arabian social practice, early hadith, earliest fiqh, and later legal ages without importing later rules into the verse.
4:24-25 right-hand possession: investigate Late Antique slavery, war captivity, existing marriages, sexual access, consent concepts, manumission and comparison with Torah/Roman/Christian practice.
4:34: trace earliest tafsir, hadith, juristic limits, and modern reinterpretations of wa-iḍribūhunna. Keep lexical evidence, early reception and modern ethical rereadings separate.
4:160 dietary restrictions: apply Judaism chronology layers before comparing Quranic punitive explanation with Torah holiness/covenant framing.
Sabbath: 4:47 and 4:154 are direct Quranic evidence but do not define the offense; defer full source-history to 7:163-166 and keep Tanakh/Second Temple/rabbinic/later sources dated separately.
Taḥrīf: Surah 4 requires continuing manuscript chronology control; any claim of pre-Muhammad textual corruption must be tested against pre-Islamic manuscript evidence passage by passage.
Checkpoint 007 Historical and Textual Research Additions
QCA-0001 historical test: compare 5:43-48/66/68 with demonstrably pre-Islamic Torah and Gospel manuscript traditions. Any proposed corruption must identify the exact reading, approximate date, mechanism, and evidence.
Injīl: compare Quranic singular al-Injīl and 5:47’s existing People-of-Gospel command with pre-Islamic Christian use of euangelion and canonical Gospel collections.
5:32: document Mishnah Sanhedrin 4:5 manuscript variants, compilation chronology, and relation to the Quranic life-value maxim without inferring borrowing solely from similarity.
5:31 raven burial: find earliest securely datable Jewish, rabbinic, Syriac, Christian, or Arabian parallels and label each by chronology layer.
5:60 apes/swine: retain literal Arabic noun evidence but defer historical/source and literal/metaphorical adjudication until 7:163-166.
5:64 “God’s hand is chained”: investigate provenance rather than attributing it to Judaism generally.
5:73/116: compare Quranic anti-triadic formulations with Nicene/Chalcedonian texts and documented pre-Islamic Marian devotion, including hostile heresiological sources such as Epiphanius, with chronology and source bias explicit.
5:112-115 Table Spread: investigate canonical, apocryphal, Syriac, Eucharistic, manna, and feeding-tradition parallels without forcing an identification.
5:97: continue independent pre-Islamic evidence search for Mecca/Bakkah/Kaʿbah and Abraham/Ishmael connection.
Checkpoint 008 Historical and Textual Research Additions
QB-0094 / 6:20,114: test claimed recognizability of Muhammad against demonstrably pre-Islamic Jewish and Christian manuscripts, grammar, literary context and pre-Islamic interpretation. Candidate texts such as Deuteronomy 18/33, Isaiah 42 and John 14-16 must be tested rather than assumed.
6:34/115: distinguish divine-word inviolability from the historical transmission of manuscript copies. Any corruption claim must identify specific readings, dates, mechanisms and pre-Islamic manuscript evidence.
6:74: investigate Āzar/Terah historically and linguistically. Label alternate-name/title/uncle proposals as later interpretive harmonizations unless independent evidence supports them.
6:75-79: locate the earliest securely datable Jewish, Christian, Syriac or Late Antique parallels to Abraham’s celestial reasoning. Apply Judaism chronology strictly; later midrash cannot be used as a pre-Quranic source without dating.
6:91/154: compare Quranic positive Mosaic-Scripture claims with extant pre-Islamic Torah manuscript traditions and Jewish use. The accusation in 6:91 is selective disclosure/concealment, not explicit universal rewriting.
6:101: compare walad/ṣāḥibah argument with pre-Islamic Nicene and non-Nicene Christian formulations. Separate rejection of biological divine offspring from orthodox eternal Sonship.
6:112-130: research Late Antique Arabian beliefs about jinn and compare cautiously with biblical angel/demon categories; do not flatten distinct supernatural taxonomies.
6:146: compare Quranic punitive rationale for Jewish food restrictions with Torah’s own holiness/covenant rationales and later Jewish interpretation by chronological layer.
6:151-153: compare the ethical summary with Decalogue/Torah forms while testing literary dependence only if wording/order and historical transmission justify it.
6:164: compare individual burden-bearing with Jewish sacrificial/atonement concepts, Isaiah 53 reception, and New Testament atonement while distinguishing personal guilt from representative/substitutionary bearing.
Checkpoint 009 Historical / Textual Research Additions
QB-0138 / 7:157: Deuteronomy 18:15-18, Deuteronomy 33:2, Isaiah 42, Song 5:16 and John 14-16 were tested against original-language wording, literary context, pre-Islamic manuscript evidence and pre-Islamic Jewish/Christian interpretation. No candidate presently supplies an unambiguous Muhammad prediction.
Injīl: trace Greek euangelion and Syriac/other Late Antique Christian loanword transmission. Etymology supports ordinary Christian “Gospel” vocabulary, not by itself a lost revelation-book. Pre-Islamic Syriac Gospel witnesses preserve canonical Gospel tradition.
Tawrāt: compare Quran 5:43-45 with Pentateuch manuscript traditions. Dead Sea Scrolls establish pre-Islamic Torah textual plurality plus substantial continuity; post-Muhammad removal of an explicit Deuteronomy prophecy is historically excluded by manuscripts predating Islam.
Sabbath/apes: locate earliest securely datable Jewish, Christian, Syriac and Arabian antecedents to the fishing-Sabbath and ape-transformation narrative. Do not use later tafsir or later rabbinic compilation as automatically pre-Quranic.
Mountain over Israel: investigate rabbinic “mountain like a barrel” tradition, including transmission/redaction dating of b. Shabbat 88a and antecedent layers.
Golden calf/Aaron: compare Exodus 32 with Quran 7 and later Surah 20; track whether al-Sāmirī material has pre-Islamic antecedents.
7:175-176: investigate Balaam identification across Numbers, Second Temple Jewish sources, rabbinic traditions and early Christian reception before accepting later tafsir identification.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
Surahs 8-10 historical and textual research
9:30 — ʿUzayr/Ezra “son of God”: preserve as a major externally testable representation claim. The Quranic wording is broad (“the Jews say”). The dedicated source-history phase must search pre-Islamic Jewish Scripture, Second Temple Ezra traditions, rabbinic literature, Arabian Jewish evidence, and Christian polemical sources with strict chronology. Later Muslim explanations narrowing the claim to a subgroup cannot be substituted for evidence without labeling.
9:111 — Torah/Gospel promise: the Quran explicitly says the life/wealth-for-Paradise promise involving fighting/killing/being killed is true in Torah, Gospel, and Quran. This is an externally testable continuity claim and requires direct comparison with historically attested Torah/Gospel texts rather than thematic approximation.
10:92 — Pharaoh body: the verse claims the body is delivered/preserved as a sign for later people. Historical investigation must distinguish (a) existence of Egyptian royal mummies, (b) identification of the Exodus Pharaoh, (c) what 10:92 itself claims, and (d) later apologetic identification. No specific mummy is established by the Quranic wording alone.
10:94 — earlier Scripture witness: the conditional/rhetorical wording still uses people reading earlier Scripture as confirmatory witnesses inside the Quran’s argument. This is historically important for QCA-0001 because it sits uneasily with a simple model in which the relevant earlier Scripture had already become unusable in Muhammad’s lifetime.
8:65-66 — command lightening: historical-juristic investigation should distinguish the Quran’s own explicit lightening from later formal theories of naskh and from later legal extrapolation.
9:29 — jizya and ṣāghirūn: the verse establishes a payment/subordination condition; later fiscal rates, protected-community institutions, exemptions, humiliation practices, and legal schools belong to later historical layers and must not be projected backward automatically.
9:40 — cave companion: the Quran says “the second of two” and “his companion” but does not name Abu Bakr in the verse. Identification belongs to sīra/tafsir/hadith tradition and must be labeled as such.
9:100-101 — Companions and hypocrites: praise of early emigrants/helpers is Quranic; 9:101 simultaneously says Muhammad does not know every hypocrite. Neither verse by itself proves or disproves the historical reliability of individual later hadith transmitters.
Quran Research Project - Master Block 001 (Surahs 1-10) - Corrected Full-Schema Build
Coverage: Surah 1:1-7; 2:1-286; 3:1-200; 4:1-176; 5:1-120; 6:1-165; 7:1-206; 8:1-75; 9:1-129; 10:1-109 | Built September 14, 2026
Key Provenance Warnings
Do not call Adam's spouse 'Eve/Hawwa' as a Quran 2 statement; she is unnamed there.
Do not insert 'Jews' and 'Christians' into Quran 1:7 as if those nouns occur in the Arabic verse.
Do not treat a bracketed 'before Muhammad' limitation in an English rendering of 2:62 as part of the Arabic text.
Do not equate concealment/substitution language automatically with wholesale manuscript corruption.
Checkpoint 002 Provenance Controls
2:104 rāʿinā explanation: Quran supplies the replacement command; insult/wordplay rationale must be labeled tafsir/historical interpretation.
2:87 rūḥ al-qudus: Quranic phrase must remain distinct from later identification with Gabriel unless internal evidence supports equivalence.
2:102 Harut/Marut: standard reading and classical tafsir must be separated from modern harmonizing reinterpretations.
2:116 divine sonship: Quranic walad language must be compared with actual pre-Islamic Christian doctrine rather than a presumed biological model.
2:142 prior qiblah: 'Jerusalem' belongs to early Islamic historical/tafsir provenance unless and until external evidence is separately cited.
Taḥrīf: Quran, hadith, tafsir, medieval polemics, modern apologetics, Jewish/Christian manuscript evidence, and academic textual criticism must remain separate source layers.
Checkpoint 003 Provenance Controls
2:178 qiṣāṣ historical rationale from tribal custom belongs to sīrah/tafsir/legal history unless explicitly present in Quranic wording.
2:184-185 fasting harmonization/abrogation claims must be labeled classical tafsir/fiqh, not silently inserted into the Quranic text.
2:191 universal “kill unbelievers” readings and purely defensive-only readings both require testing against the complete Quranic warfare corpus and historical context.
2:217 apostasy death-penalty doctrine must not be attributed to this verse; separate Quran, hadith and fiqh provenance.
2:223 sexual-law specifics belong to tafsir/fiqh unless textually explicit.
2:230 sham halalah practice is not commanded by the Quranic wording; later legal/practical traditions must be distinguished.
2:248-249 Tālūt source parallels require distinction between Quran, canonical Bible, Jewish/Christian traditions and modern source hypotheses.
2:258 ruler = Nimrod and 2:259 man = Ezra are later identifications, not explicit Quranic names.
2:256 later claims of abrogation by “sword verses” must be traced historically and not presupposed.
2:282 universal “female testimony is half” claims go beyond the immediate deferred-debt context unless supported by additional sources.
Checkpoint 004 Provenance Controls
3:35: Quran does not name Mary's mother Hannah; that name is later tradition.
3:37: Quran says Mary receives provision but does not explain a mechanism beyond divine source.
3:44: Quran explicitly claims divine revelation of unseen events; pre-existing traditions are separate historical evidence, not automatically disproof.
3:46: Luke 1:39-45 is not an infant-speech parallel.
3:54: makr should not be mechanically rendered 'deception' without contextual lexical analysis.
3:55: mutawaffika cannot be translated to predetermine Jesus' death question.
3:61: Najran delegation identification belongs to historical/tafsir provenance; the verse itself does not name Najran.
3:78: oral/tongue distortion is explicit; total manuscript corruption is not.
3:93: the Torah appeal is Quranic text, not later tafsir.
Checkpoint 005 Provenance Controls
3:121ff: “Uhud” is primarily historical/sīrah identification unless the verse itself names the event; do not silently convert tradition into Quranic wording.
3:123 explicitly names Badr and therefore needs no external identification for that verse.
3:124-125 angelic reinforcement is Quranic claim; later narratives specifying angel names, appearances, or battlefield acts must be separately sourced.
3:144 later reports of Abu Bakr invoking the verse after Muhammad’s death are hadith/sīrah evidence, not part of the verse itself.
3:181 and 3:183 are Quranic reports about opponents; historical attribution and representativeness require independent evidence.
3:187 is direct Quranic concealment language and belongs in QCA-0001 without being generalized automatically to manuscript corruption.
Checkpoint 006 Provenance Controls
4:1: Adam/Eve names are not explicit in the verse; traditional identification belongs to wider Quran/tafsir context.
4:6: no numerical marriage age is Quranic here; later puberty/age rules are hadith/fiqh/history.
4:24: captive/slave interpretation is classical/legal provenance; the phrase itself is “those whom your right hands possess.”
4:34: physical-striking reading is the dominant traditional interpretation; modern nonphysical readings must be labeled modern/alternative unless early evidence supports them.
4:47/154: Sabbath-breaker reference and Sabbath command are Quranic; fishing/traps details are not yet supplied in these verses.
4:90/94: peace and verification limitations are direct Quranic warfare evidence and must not be erased by later legal generalizations.
4:128: male nushūz is Quranic and must constrain definitions imported into 4:34.
4:157: substitution theory is not fully explicit; shubbiha lahum leaves agent/object/mechanism unstated.
4:159: future-return interpretation belongs to tafsir/hadith unless the Quranic antecedent is independently established.
4:171: Nicene Creed and pre-Islamic Christian theology are external comparison sources; later Muslim polemics do not define what fourth-century Christianity taught.
Judaism evidence must always carry layer/date labels: Tanakh; Second Temple; Rabbinic; later.
Checkpoint 007 Provenance Controls
5:27-31: Quran says “two sons of Adam”; Cain/Abel names come from comparison/tradition.
5:31: raven burial is Quranic; any Jewish/Christian parallel must carry date/layer labels.
5:32: Mishnah Sanhedrin is rabbinic, not Torah; exact text varies by manuscript tradition.
5:33: later ḥirābah fiqh cannot be silently substituted for Quranic “waging war/spreading corruption” wording.
5:38: Quran directly gives hand-cutting; later thresholds, evidentiary rules, anatomical scope, and famine exceptions are jurisprudential layers.
5:41: distortion language must not be inflated automatically into global manuscript corruption.
5:43-48: Torah/Gospel positive authority statements are Quranic text, not later apologetic interpretation.
5:51: “friends” is not an adequate unqualified gloss for awliyāʾ.
5:60: qiradah means apes; metaphorical interpretation is secondary interpretation, not lexical translation.
5:64: “God’s hand is chained” is a Quranic attribution whose historical Jewish provenance remains unverified.
5:73: “third of three” must be compared with actual pre-Islamic Christian formulations rather than later caricatures.
5:116: Quran does not use the word Trinity in the verse; Jesus/Mary as two gods is explicit, while identifying that formula with mainstream Trinity is an external interpretive claim.
5:117: w-f-y meaning must remain open pending corpus analysis.
Checkpoint 008 Provenance Controls
6:20/114: the Quranic recognition claim is primary Quran evidence; later Muslim identifications of biblical prophecies are interpretive sources and must be dated separately.
6:38/59: identifying al-kitāb with a heavenly/divine record is contextual interpretation; do not silently rewrite the verse as “the physical Quran contains every fact.”
6:60-61: w-f-y semantic evidence is internal Quranic evidence and has priority over later theological assumptions about Jesus’ death.
6:74: Āzar is Quranic text; Terah is biblical text; later harmonizations are secondary unless externally evidenced.
6:75-79: any Abraham celestial-discovery parallel must carry exact source date/layer (Tanakh, Second Temple, rabbinic, later).
6:91: selective display/concealment is explicit Quranic wording; “entire Torah rewritten” is not the verse’s wording.
6:101: no-consort argument is explicit; “Quran says Christians believe God had sex with Mary” is an overstatement and must not be entered as Quranic text.
6:112-130: jinn beliefs in tafsir/hadith/folklore must remain separate from the Quran’s own statements.
6:146: Quranic punitive rationale and Torah holiness rationale are distinct primary-source claims; later apologetic reconciliations are secondary.
6:159: later Sunni/Shiʿa denominational history must not be retrojected into the lexical reference to sects/factions.
Checkpoint 009 Provenance Controls
7:157 Quranic claim is primary evidence; Muslim identifications of Deut 18/33, Isa 42, Song 5:16 and Paraclete are later interpretive arguments and must not be back-projected into the biblical texts.
Injīl etymology and Christian usage are historical-linguistic evidence; the Quran’s revelation-book framing is Quranic theology. Keep those categories distinct.
Tawrāt manuscript evidence demonstrates textual continuity/variation; it does not by itself prove Mosaic authorship or every modern textual reading.
7:166 ape transformation is Quranic text; literal/metaphorical explanations are interpretive layers.
7:171 raised mountain is Quranic text; b. Shabbat 88a is rabbinic evidence whose compilation and antecedent dating must be stated.
7:175-176 anonymous figure is Quranic text; Balaam identification is secondary unless independent pre-Islamic evidence supports the link.
Golden calf: Exodus Aaron role and Quran Aaron role are separate primary-source claims; harmonization is secondary.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
Quran layer: all verse-derived claims above are recorded from Quran 8-10. Later identification of unnamed persons/events must not be silently inserted into Quranic wording.
Tafsir/sīra/hadith layer: Abu Bakr as cave companion, detailed occasions of revelation, specific treaty parties, campaign chronology, and later explanations of ʿUzayr must be marked as post-Quranic transmitted interpretation/history unless independently established.
Jewish source layer: Ezra/ʿUzayr, Torah warfare promises, Abraham/father traditions, Moses/Pharaoh, and Jonah parallels require Hebrew Bible, Second Temple, rabbinic, and later Jewish evidence to be chronologically separated.
Christian source layer: Gospel promise claims, spiritual hearing/seeing parallels, foundation metaphors, and prophetic/intercession comparisons must distinguish canonical New Testament from later patristic and Late Antique material.
Modern apologetic/polemical layer: claims identifying 10:92 with a particular mummy, treating 9:30 as proven by an obscure subgroup without evidence, or claiming 9:111 is fulfilled by generic martyrdom language are not primary-source findings and require independent testing.
No-source-substitution rule: a later explanation may resolve an apparent difficulty only if its historical evidence and chronology are supplied; it cannot replace the Quran’s own wording in the primary-text record.

Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
Surahs 8-10 narrative / source parallel additions
Surah 8 reuses the Pharaoh-house pattern at 8:50-54 as a theological precedent for judgment rather than retelling Exodus in full.
Surah 9:113-114 gives an Abraham/father forgiveness-and-disassociation episode not narrated in Genesis; it must be linked to the existing 6:74 Āzar/Terah dossier and later source-history work.
Surah 10:71-73 retells Noah/Flood in compressed preaching form, strongly paralleling Genesis 6-9 while emphasizing prophetic warning and no financial compensation.
Surah 10:75-82 retells Moses/Aaron versus Pharaoh and magicians, strongly paralleling Exodus but in Quranic compressed sequence.
Surah 10:87 adds a houses/qiblah instruction for Israelites in Egypt without a direct Exodus counterpart.
Surah 10:88-89 adds Moses’ explicit prayer for destruction of wealth and hardening of Pharaoh’s people and divine acceptance; compare with Exodus’s mixed Pharaoh-hardens/God-hardens formulas.
Surah 10:90-92 parallels the sea destruction but adds Pharaoh’s drowning confession and the body-as-sign statement, neither of which is narrated that way in Exodus.
Surah 10:98 strongly parallels Jonah 3 in making Jonah’s community an example of repentance that averts threatened punishment.

Executive Synthesis Through Quran 2:74
The Quran's opening movement is organized around guidance. Al-Fatihah petitions God for the straight path; Al-Baqarah immediately identifies the Book as guidance and then narrates contrasting responses to revelation. This creates the checkpoint's central architecture: divine revelation is given, humans receive or resist it, inner moral condition shapes response, and response is tied to judgment, mercy, and final outcome.
God
God is presented as merciful, universal Lord, judge, creator, sustainer, revealer, teacher, covenant giver, forgiver, and source of guidance. Mercy and judgment are not opposites in the text; both are present from the opening.
Humanity, Sin, and the Heart
Human beings can believe, reject, profess falsely, deceive themselves, disobey, repent, and receive mercy. The heart is a moral/spiritual faculty that can be sealed, diseased, or hardened. Adam's story emphasizes transgression followed by accepted repentance and renewed guidance; inherited guilt is not established in this coverage.
Earlier Revelation and Israel
The Quran repeatedly treats earlier revelation as genuinely divine and meaningful: believers must believe what was revealed before (2:4), current revelation confirms what is with Israel (2:41), people recite al-kitab (2:44), and Moses receives al-kitab/al-furqan (2:53). At the same time, some are accused of mixing truth with falsehood, concealing truth, disobeying, or substituting a commanded saying. Through 2:74, this supports criticism of human handling/response but does not yet establish wholesale textual corruption of the earlier Scriptures.
Salvation / Final Outcome
The early Quran links belief and righteous conduct with positive eschatological outcome, while also emphasizing repentance, mercy, guidance, and judgment. Quran 2:62 is especially important because it names Jews and Christians within a positive reward formula; its relation to later exclusivist-sounding passages remains open.
Bible-Quran Relationship
The first 74 verses of Al-Baqarah contain extensive shared biblical narrative material: Adam, temptation, Moses, Pharaoh, sea deliverance, covenant, golden calf, manna/quail, water from rock, and hard-heart imagery. Many are agreements or partial agreements; several differences are additions/omissions rather than contradictions. The potentially major open issue is Adam's sin and its consequences compared with Romans 5.
Checkpoint Conclusions
No direct Quran-Bible contradiction has yet been finally established under the Constitution's contradiction protocol.
No formal Quran-internal contradiction has yet been established.
QCA-0001 (textual corruption of earlier Scripture) remains open and is not established through 2:74.
QCA-0002 (salvation of Jews/Christians without conversion) remains open.
Guidance, heart condition, covenant accountability, mercy/judgment, and response to revelation are the strongest thematic architectures so far.
Checkpoint 002 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 2:177
Earlier Scripture / Taḥrīf
The evidence now requires a multi-category model. Quran 2 accuses some people of concealment, deliberate distortion, fabrication falsely attributed to God, selective rejection, and disregard of Scripture. Simultaneously, it repeatedly describes prior revelation as possessed, recited, confirmable, and in some cases properly recited. Through 2:177, the Quran clearly teaches serious human mishandling of revelation but has not yet established wholesale textual corruption of every Torah/Gospel manuscript. QCA-0001 and the major taḥrīf flag remain open.
Abrogation / Legislative Change
Quran 2:106 explicitly introduces naskh/āyah replacement language. Quran 2:142-150 then provides a concrete example of changed ritual legislation: a prior qiblah and a newly commanded qiblah toward the Sacred Mosque. The Quran therefore clearly allows divine commands/practices to change. Whether 2:106 specifically establishes cancellation of Quranic verses remains open because āyah has a broader semantic range.
Christology
Jesus first appears in 2:87 as Jesus son of Mary, recipient of clear signs, strengthened by rūḥ al-qudus, and later included in prophetic revelation continuity. Quran 2:116 rejects God taking a son, but does not name Jesus in that verse. A pending Christology flag requires later comparison between Quranic sonship rejection and actual pre-Islamic Christian doctrines of biological offspring, adoption, and eternal Sonship.
Abrahamic Continuity
The Quran places Abraham at the center of universal monotheism, integrates Ishmael into the patriarchal line, associates Abraham and Ishmael with raising the foundations of the Sacred House, and links their prayer for a messenger to the active messenger's functions. This produces both strong continuity claims and major historical/narrative differences from Genesis that require independent source investigation.
Righteousness and Salvation
The Quran repeatedly rejects communal identity, ancestry, inherited merit, and ritual orientation as sufficient grounds for salvation or righteousness. By 2:177, righteousness is defined through belief in God, Last Day, angels, Book and prophets; generosity; prayer; almsgiving; covenant fidelity; and patience. Mercy, repentance, divine judgment, and guidance remain integral to the larger salvation picture.
Cumulative Status
QDISC preserved through QDISC-0085.
QB preserved through QB-0034.
QCA-0001, QCA-0002, and QCA-0003 active.
No formal QI contradiction established through 2:177.
Al-Baqarah is best understood at this stage as a sustained investigation of response to divine guidance. Al-Fatihah asks for the straight path; 2:2 names the Book as guidance; the surah then tests reception through belief, hypocrisy, Israel, Adam, law, ritual, family, warfare, charity and commerce; 2:285 resolves with “we hear and obey,” and 2:286 closes with capacity, accountability, forgiveness and mercy.
Law and Moral Purpose
Surah 2 law repeatedly combines command with purpose, proportionality, non-harm, hardship exceptions, consultation, financial duty and moral intent. Ritual is important but repeatedly subordinated to substantive righteousness. This prevents describing Quranic law either as pure legal formalism or as purely inward spirituality.
Warfare
The first sustained warfare corpus authorizes lethal fighting in conflict, includes expulsion and fitnah language, and also explicitly prohibits transgression, requires cessation when opponents cease, and limits retaliation proportionally. The entire Quranic warfare corpus is still required before system-level conclusions.
Family and Gender
The surah contains reciprocal spouse imagery, reciprocal rights language, consultation, anti-harm protections and financial duties alongside male-specific divorce powers, a male darajah, fertility imagery, and a gendered debt-witness rule. Both reciprocal and asymmetrical evidence must remain visible until later surahs, especially Surah 4, are analyzed.
Economic Ethics
Economic law is unusually prominent: anti-bribery, charity without humiliation/showmanship, severe ribā prohibition, debtor forbearance, written debt instruments, witnesses, collateral/trust and heart accountability. Economic conduct is treated as a spiritual/moral matter.
Resurrection and Judgment
Multiple final-block narratives present supernatural revival/resurrection as evidence of divine power. The surah closes with comprehensive divine knowledge, conditional intercession, personal moral acquisition, capacity-limited burden, and petitions for pardon/mercy.
Earlier Scripture / Taḥrīf
Completion of Surah 2 does not close QCA-0001. The surah clearly alleges concealment, distortion, fabrication, selective rejection and disregard while also affirming, confirming and recognizing recitation of prior revelation. The major taḥrīf flag remains cumulative.
Christology
Surah 2 positively presents Jesus as son of Mary, clear-sign recipient and Spirit-strengthened messenger, while generically rejecting God taking a son. Whether the Quran accurately represents Christian divine sonship awaits later explicit Jesus passages and the pending Christology flag.
Claims Audits
QCA-0001 taḥrīf, QCA-0002 Jews/Christians and salvation, QCA-0003 abrogation, and QCA-0004 forced conversion are all active and unresolved after Surah 2.
Checkpoint 004 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 3:120
Surah 3 delivers the first sustained Quranic Christology. Jesus is Messiah, Word from God, virgin-born, miracle worker, raiser of the dead by God's permission, confirmer of Torah, associated with Gospel revelation, and highly honored. Yet he directs worship to God, calls God his Lord, and is compared with Adam to reject divinity as an inference from miraculous origin. The New Testament divine-identity claims and Quranic Christology now constitute a substantive theological contradiction, while the separate question of whether the Quran accurately represents historic Christian sonship remains open.
Surah 3 materially strengthens both sides of the evidence. Torah and Gospel are said to come from God; Quran confirms prior revelation; People of the Book are called to God's Book; 3:93 commands opponents to bring the Torah and recite it. Conversely, 3:78 gives explicit oral/tongue-based manipulation and false attribution. The best provisional synthesis remains that the Quran teaches serious human mishandling of revelation while still treating genuine earlier Scripture as extant and usable. Wholesale textual corruption remains unproven.
Injīl
The project must no longer assume that 'sent down/given' implies a physical codex handed to a prophet, because the Quran uses the same revelation language for Muhammad while Quranic material was received over time. 3:48 strengthens the conception of Injīl as divine revelation/teaching associated with Jesus. Its precise relation to the four canonical Gospels remains unresolved and historically important.
Salvation
3:19 and 3:85 use strong exclusivist al-Islam language, but 3:113-115 positively describes a righteous subgroup among the People of the Book whose good is not denied. Because the Quran also calls Abraham and Jesus' disciples muslim/submitting ones, QCA-0002 remains unresolved and requires careful lexical/contextual integration.
Source History
Several Quranic Mary/Jesus narratives have notable extra-canonical pre-Islamic parallels. These parallels prove that similar traditions existed before Islam in some cases, but neither borrowing nor historicity follows automatically. The cradle-speech question requires especially careful dating because secure surviving Arabic manuscripts are later and reconstructed Syriac antecedents must not be treated as extant evidence.
Historical Claims
The Abraham/Ishmael-Sacred House claim is now strengthened by 3:96-97's identification of Bakkah and the first House. Independent pre-Islamic attestation remains required. The Mary/Imran/Aaron relationship is also preserved as a major genealogical/history question.

Checkpoint 005 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 3:120
Checkpoint 005 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 3:200
Āl ʿImrān Complete
Surah 3 is now fully researched. Its major themes are revelation continuity, Christology, People of the Book, Abrahamic identity, battle/testing, repentance, community discipline, martyrdom, rational contemplation, and perseverance.
Battle and Leadership
The Quran interprets military outcome through divine sovereignty and human obedience. Defeat is linked to internal failure rather than divine incapacity. Muhammad is a mortal messenger and active military/community leader, but 3:159 commands gentleness, pardon, consultation, and trust in God after community failure.
Martyrdom and Afterlife
3:169-171 goes beyond the earlier “alive” formulation and depicts those killed in God’s way as alive with their Lord, provisioned and rejoicing. Exact intermediate-state ontology remains open, but conscious blessed existence is strongly implied.
3:187 adds direct evidence that Scripture recipients are obligated to make revelation clear and not conceal it. This fits the cumulative model of extant genuine revelation plus human concealment, oral twisting, fabrication, selective rejection, and disregard. Total textual corruption remains unestablished through Surah 3.
People of the Book and Salvation
3:199 provides an important harmonizing clue: the rewarded subgroup among People of the Book believes in what was revealed to Muhammad as well as their own revelation. QCA-0002 remains open but now has a stronger path toward reconciliation with 3:85.
Gender and Moral Accountability
The Quran’s legal/social asymmetries must be held together with 3:195, which explicitly says God does not lose the work of any worker, male or female. The project will continue distinguishing spiritual/moral valuation from social/legal differentiation.
Epistemology and Creation
3:190-191 commends remembrance and rational contemplation of creation, presenting the cosmos as purposeful evidence rather than meaningless existence.

Checkpoint 006 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 3:120
Checkpoint 006 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 3:200
Checkpoint 006 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 4:176
Surah 4 Social/Legal Theology
Al-Nisāʾ grounds law in common human origin and kinship, protects orphans and women from several forms of exploitation, grants women property and inheritance rights, and simultaneously creates clear sex-differentiated and male-authority structures. The surah must therefore be described as both protective and asymmetric rather than forced into a simple egalitarian/oppressive slogan.
Marriage, Nushūz, and Age
4:6 provides no numerical marriage age. 4:34 gives husbands qawwāmah and an escalating remedy for feared nushūz ending in the traditionally physical wa-iḍribūhunna. 4:128 proves husbands can also commit nushūz, so the term is broader than female disobedience, but the Quran’s remedies remain asymmetric. 4:3 and 4:129 create QCA-0005, with a plausible distinction between achievable behavioral justice and impossible perfect emotional equality.
Slavery / Right-Hand Possession
4:24-25 recognizes and regulates slavery/right-hand possession, including sexual/marital implications. The text does not abolish the institution here. Comparison with Torah, New Testament, Roman/Late Antique law and later Islamic jurisprudence must distinguish regulation, mitigation, manumission and abolition.
Surah 4 undeniably authorizes armed force. It also repeatedly differentiates oppressed-defense, hostile combatants, treaty parties, genuine neutrality, peace offers, accidental killing, verification, disability and migration capacity. Through Surah 4 the warfare corpus is conditional rather than indiscriminate; forced-conversion QCA-0004 remains open pending later surahs.
4:46 adds distortion/tongue twisting while 4:47 immediately says the Quran confirms what is with People of the Book; 4:136 and 4:162 continue positive prior-Scripture belief. The cumulative evidence still favors multiple human-mishandling mechanisms while treating earlier revelation as genuine and relevant. Total textual corruption remains unestablished.
Sabbath
4:47 and 4:154 confirm a known Sabbath-breaker judgment and an explicit covenant not to transgress Sabbath, but still do not specify the offense. The major Sabbath/apes investigation remains pending for 7:163-166 and related passages, under mandatory Jewish chronology layers.
Crucifixion
4:157 directly denies that Jesus was killed or crucified and 4:158 says God raised him. The canonical Gospels, Paul and early external historical evidence strongly support crucifixion under Pontius Pilate. Pre-Islamic docetic/substitution alternatives existed, but they neither prove Quranic dependence nor historically establish the Quranic denial. QB-0075 therefore remains a direct historical/textual contradiction under ordinary historical method.
Christology / Trinity
4:171 gives Jesus an unusually high title cluster—Messiah, Messenger, Word, Spirit from God—while rejecting “Three” and divine walad and 4:172 calls Jesus God’s servant. A substantive theological contradiction with orthodox Christianity is now established, while the separate question of whether the Quran accurately represents Nicene/Chalcedonian sonship and Trinity remains open.
Comparative Judaism Expansion
The project now formally requires Jewish evidence to be separated chronologically into Tanakh, Second Temple Judaism, Rabbinic Judaism, and later Jewish theology/practice. After Surah 114, a dedicated thematic Judaism phase will synthesize the questions exposed by the Bible-Quran research rather than repeat a full verse-by-verse project.
Adam / Eve Cross-Test
The eventual Adam/Fall comparison must include not only Genesis 3 but 1 Timothy 2:14 and 2 Corinthians 11:3, because the New Testament explicitly preserves Eve’s deception. The project will distinguish simple Quranic omission from material redistribution or contradiction.

All pending flags preserved: Sabbath/apes; Sabbath institution; taḥrīf; Christology/sonship/Trinity; Injīl identity; cradle speech; Adam/Eve NT comparison; marriageable age; Jesus death/raising; Judaism chronology/thematic phase.
Next canonical position: Quran 5:1 - al-Māʾidah.
Checkpoint 007 Cumulative Synthesis Through Quran 5:120
Earlier Scripture / Taḥrīf
Surah 5 is the strongest Quranic evidence so far that earlier Scripture remains extant and usable: Jews “have the Torah” containing God’s judgment; Torah and Gospel are guidance and light; People of the Gospel must judge by what God revealed in it; Quran confirms and is muhaymin; Torah/Gospel are to be upheld. Simultaneously, people distort, forget, conceal, falsely attribute and selectively reject. The strongest Quran-internal synthesis is human mishandling of genuine revelation, not an explicit claim of universal textual destruction.
Injīl Identity
5:46-47 sharpens the issue: al-Injīl is divine revelation associated with Jesus and is treated as something an existing People-of-Gospel community can judge by. Any theory of a completely lost original Injīl must explain this command and the pre-Islamic canonical Gospel evidence.
Christology / Trinity Representation
Surah 5 rejects “God is Messiah,” “third of three,” and worship of Jesus/Mary. Jesus remains extraordinarily exalted but non-divine. 5:116 creates a serious representation problem because Nicene Christianity does not include Mary in the Trinity. The project must compare Quranic formulations with actual pre-Islamic creeds and Marian practices rather than later slogans.
Salvation of People of the Book
5:69 repeats 2:62, but 5:82-85 praises Christians specifically when they recognize and accept the new revelation. Together with 3:199, this supports a plausible harmonization: genuine submitters accept authentic current revelation when it reaches them. QCA-0002 remains open pending the full Quran.
Progressive Legislation
The intoxicant sequence is now a strong demonstrable example: warning (2:219), prayer restriction (4:43), avoidance command (5:90-91), and explicit non-retroactivity (5:93). This establishes progressive legislation even if the technical doctrine of abrogation remains broader and unresolved.
Judaism Comparative Method
Surah 5 validates the four-layer chronology rule. 5:32’s “one life” maxim has a strong pre-Quranic rabbinic parallel in Mishnah Sanhedrin, not an exact Torah parallel. Jewish source claims must therefore always distinguish Tanakh, Second Temple, rabbinic, and later materials.
Sabbath / Apes
5:60 explicitly uses the ordinary nouns for apes and swine. The Sabbath connection is cumulative, but exact offense, transformation mechanism, classical interpretation and source-history remain open until 7:163-166 and the dedicated research flag are completed.
Criminal and Social Law
Surah 5 contains severe public-violence penalties, hand-cutting for theft, oath expiation, dietary law, ritual purity, pilgrimage hunting rules, and interfaith food/marriage permissions. Later jurisprudential detail must remain distinct from direct Quranic legislation.
Surah 5 Structural Conclusion
Al-Māʾidah is deeply covenantal: fulfill obligations, distinguish divine law from fabricated custom, remain just even toward enemies, uphold revelation, accept the current messenger, and end in God’s absolute sovereignty after direct Christian polemic.

No formal QI contradiction registered through 5:120.
All pending flags preserved and updated: Sabbath/apes; Sabbath institution; taḥrīf; Christology/Sonship/Trinity; Injīl identity; cradle speech; Adam/Eve; marriageable age; Jesus death/raising; Judaism chronology.
Surah 5 - al-Māʾidah COMPLETE. Next canonical position: Quran 6:1 - al-Anʿām.
Surah 6 materially strengthens the existing distinction between divine revelation and human mishandling. Moses’ Book is light/guidance (6:91), concealment is explicit, Quran confirms prior revelation (6:92), God’s words cannot be changed (6:34/115), and Mosaic Scripture is again guidance/mercy (6:154). Total pre-Muhammad textual destruction remains difficult to derive directly from the Quran reached so far.
Guidance, Hardening and Accountability
Surah 6 repeatedly attributes guidance/misguidance to God, including opening or constricting the chest (6:125), while also locating rejection in human response and explicitly rejecting “if God willed” as a moral excuse (6:148). The Quran clearly affirms both sovereignty and responsibility; the mechanism of reconciliation remains open.
Jesus Death / w-f-y
6:60 uses w-f-y in a sleep context; 6:61 immediately uses it in a death context. This is decisive internal lexical evidence that the root alone cannot determine whether 3:55 or 5:117 describes Jesus’ physical death.
Christology / Sonship Representation
6:101 rejects divine walad partly from the absence of a consort. This strengthens the distinction between the Quran’s rejection of divine sonship and the historical question whether orthodox Nicene eternal Sonship—also rejecting sexual procreation—is accurately represented by the polemical frame.
Muhammad’s Prophetic Profile
Muhammad remains emphatically human and derivative in authority: he follows revelation, does not independently know the unseen, does not possess God’s treasures, does not control signs or judgment, and is instructed to follow earlier prophetic guidance.
Abraham / Source History
The Quran names Abraham’s father Āzar rather than biblical Terah and narrates a star–moon–sun argument absent from Genesis. Both require chronologically controlled source-history research, especially across Jewish source layers.
Jinn / Supernatural Taxonomy
Surah 6 confirms that Quranic jinn are morally accountable agents capable of deception, alliance and judgment alongside humans. Final comparison must distinguish jinn from biblical angel/demon categories rather than treating them as automatically identical.
Law and Ethics
The surah condemns invented religious prohibitions, child killing, dishonest commerce, misuse of orphan property and sectarian fragmentation. 6:151-153 supplies a compact ethical core strongly paralleling biblical commandment traditions.
Jewish Dietary Law
6:146 presents at least some Jewish food restrictions as punitive for rebellion, reinforcing 4:160 and creating a significant rationale difference from Torah holiness/covenant framing.
Atonement / Individual Burden
6:164 states that no burden-bearer bears another’s burden. This becomes a major future comparison with Christian representative/substitutionary atonement and must be analyzed without caricaturing either side.
Checkpoint 008 Status

QCA-0001 through QCA-0005 remain active; divine-guidance/human-accountability remains a major open analytical issue without a new QI contradiction.

All pending flags preserved and updated: Sabbath/apes; Sabbath institution; taḥrīf; Christology/Sonship/Trinity; Injīl identity; cradle speech; Adam/Eve; marriageable age; Jesus death/raising; Abraham source-history; Judaism chronology; Muhammad miracle profile; intercession; jinn taxonomy; atonement/burden-bearing.
Surah 6 — al-Anʿām COMPLETE. Next canonical position: Quran 7:1 — al-Aʿrāf.
Checkpoint 009 Comprehensive Synthesis
Surah 7 is now complete. It substantially expands the Quran’s biblical and extra-biblical narrative field: Adam/Iblīs, Noah, Lot, Moses/Pharaoh, Sinai, golden calf, Sabbath judgment, and raised mountain, alongside Arabian prophet cycles Hūd/ʿĀd, Ṣāliḥ/Thamūd and Shuʿayb/Midian.
The most consequential externally testable claim is 7:157. Deep investigation of commonly proposed Torah/Gospel proof texts found no unambiguous Muhammad prediction. Pre-Islamic Torah and Gospel manuscript traditions make a simple post-Muhammad corruption explanation untenable. A hypothetical earlier lost Torah/Injīl remains logically possible but presently lacks positive manuscript evidence and sits under pressure from the Quran’s own “with them” language.
Sabbath research is now textually activated: 7:163-166 explicitly gives the fish test and ape transformation. Canonical Torah has Sabbath law but no corresponding ape-transformation episode; source-history remains open.
QCA-0001 is materially strengthened toward a model of authentic earlier revelation plus serious human mishandling/concealment rather than a directly stated blanket destruction/replacement of all earlier text.
Guidance/misguidance and human accountability remain a major unresolved theological architecture rather than a registered contradiction.
Checkpoint 009 status: QDISC-0001 through QDISC-0798 continuous; QB-0001 through QB-0150 continuous after preserving QB-0143 and shifting the later accidentally reused IDs; QCA-0001 through QCA-0005 active; no formal QI contradiction through 7:206. Next canonical position: Quran 8:1.
Master Block 001 Integration - Surahs 8-10
Surahs 8-10 were completed after CP009 without an intermediate checkpoint, by design. Their material is integrated here as Master Block research content from the preserved project record; no nonexistent checkpoint is asserted.
Comprehensive synthesis through Surah 10
Warfare and political order: Surahs 8-9 move the project beyond abstract ethics into concrete military/community governance. The Quran contains lethal commands and explicitly religious rationales, but also treaty fidelity, open termination rather than covert betrayal, deterrence, peace acceptance, asylum/safe escort, genuine exemptions, and treaty limits on intervention. The cumulative evidence rejects both indiscriminate-killing caricature and a reduction to modern religion-neutral self-defense.
Earlier Scripture / taḥrīf: Surahs 9-10 strengthen the extant-witness pattern. 9:111 invokes Torah and Gospel as containing a corresponding promise; 10:37 says Quran confirms what came before; 10:94 appeals conditionally/rhetorically to earlier Scripture readers. 10:15 shows explicit Quranic vocabulary for changing revelation. Through Surah 10, human distortion/mishandling is strongly attested, while wholesale prior textual destruction remains unestablished by the Quranic text.
Divine sovereignty and responsibility: 8:23-24, 9:46, 9:75-77, 10:74, 10:88-100 intensify the problem. The Quran can place divine action at the level of hearing, hearts, participation, hypocrisy, hardening, and permission to believe while still condemning refusal and failure to reason. The project must preserve both sides until the corpus is complete.
Muhammad’s authority: obedience to the Messenger is substantive and includes communal/military/legal functions. Yet Muhammad remains dependent and corrigible: 9:43, 9:80, 9:101, 10:15, 10:49 and 10:109 impose limits. The later question is not whether the Quran gives Muhammad authority—it does—but how that authority continues after his death and whether later hadith reliably preserve it.
Christology/monotheism: 9:30 and 10:68 continue rejection of divine sonship. The historical accuracy of Quranic representation remains open, especially the ʿUzayr claim and the earlier 6:101 procreative/consort argument against walad.
Biblical/source-history comparisons: Surah 10 strongly overlaps Noah, Moses/Pharaoh, and Jonah traditions but also adds or reshapes details: Israelite houses as qiblah, Moses’ hardening prayer, Pharaoh’s drowning confession, and body preservation. Similarity establishes literary-cultural relationship at the level of tradition; it does not by itself establish a borrowing mechanism.
Legal development: 8:65-66 is a high-value internal example of explicit divine lightening of a command. This must be carried into the later abrogation/naskh study without prematurely imposing later juristic theory.
Current truth-claim posture: no issue is protected from adverse evidence. Externally testable claims—especially Muhammad in Torah/Gospel (7:157), ʿUzayr (9:30), Torah/Gospel promise (9:111), Pharaoh body (10:92), and earlier Scripture witness (10:94)—remain active for manuscript and historical testing.

QRQ-0001 - God
Surah 11 adds creation/providence, divine knowledge, mercy, love (wadūd), sovereignty, judgment, and explicit denial of arbitrary injustice.
QRQ-0002 - Jesus
No major direct Jesus/Christology update in Surah 11.
QRQ-0003 - Earlier Scripture
11:17 calls the Book of Moses an imam/guide and mercy; 11:110 says disagreement arose concerning the Mosaic Book. Neither verse explicitly states wholesale textual destruction.
QRQ-0004 - Muhammad
Muhammad remains a dependent warner, is distressed by sign demands, is commanded to remain upright, and is explicitly strengthened by earlier messenger stories (11:120).
QRQ-0005 - Revelation
The Quran describes its verses as made firm/detailed, issues a literary challenge, and frames prophetic narratives as revealed truth/admonition.
QRQ-0006 - Salvation
Faith, righteous deeds, humility, repentance, mercy, perseverance, recompense, and 11:114’s statement that good deeds remove bad deeds expand the salvation dataset.
QRQ-0007 - Sin and Human Nature
Human wrongdoing, social corruption, following tyrants, guidance/misguidance, and divine sovereignty/human responsibility are intensified.
QRQ-0008 - Death, Judgment, Afterlife
Historical judgments point to final gathering; Pharaoh leads followers into Fire; Fire/Garden duration language in 11:106-108 requires full-corpus analysis.
QRQ-0009 - Biblical People and Events
Noah, Hūd/ʿĀd, Ṣāliḥ/Thamūd, Abraham, Lot, Shuʿayb/Midian, Moses and Pharaoh receive major narrative/source-history updates.
QRQ-0010 - Quran/Bible Continuity
Surah 11 contains extremely close Genesis parallels alongside Quran-specific expansions and genuine narrative differences; source chronology remains mandatory.

Checkpoint 010 Status
No formal QI entry is added through Surah 11.
Guidance / Misguidance / Human Responsibility
10:99-100; 11:34,36,97,101,118-119 strongly affirm both divine sovereignty over belief and human culpability. Judicial hardening remains a plausible partial model but does not yet resolve every text. Classification: serious cumulative theological/explanatory tension; NOT YET a demonstrated formal contradiction.
Fire / Garden Duration
11:106-108 applies parallel abiding formulas and divine-will exceptions to Fire and Garden, with Paradise additionally called an uncut gift. Full-Quran evidence is required before any QI classification.

QCA-0001 - Earlier Scripture / taḥrīf - OPEN
Surah 11 adds 11:17 (Book of Moses as imam/guide and mercy) and 11:110 (disagreement concerning the Mosaic Book). These do not state wholesale textual destruction. Cumulative model remains authentic earlier revelation plus serious human mishandling; blanket total-corruption claim remains difficult to derive directly.
QCA-0002 - Salvation / People of the Book - OPEN
Surah 11 adds faith+righteous deeds+humility, repeated rescue by mercy, recompense for deeds, good deeds removing bad deeds, and perseverance. No simplistic “works-only” model is adequate.
QCA-0003 - Legal development / command modification - OPEN
No Surah 11 evidence resolves the existing progressive-legislation/abrogation questions.
QCA-0004 - Warfare / fitnah / coercion - OPEN
11:28 has Noah reject forcing proof/mercy upon unwilling hearers. Relevant to compelled belief, but not a complete political doctrine of non-coercion.
QCA-0005 - Polygyny justice - OPEN
No material Surah 11 update; prior 4:3/4:129 analysis remains.
Associated cumulative flags
Guidance/hardening is intensified by 11:34,36,97,101,118-119. Messenger/Sunnah authority remains open. Hell-duration dataset opened by 11:106-108. Noah, Hūd/ʿĀd, Ṣāliḥ/Thamūd, Lot, Shuʿayb/Midian, and Pharaoh source-history flags remain active.

Noah’s drowned son
Genesis names Shem, Ham, and Japheth and has all three survive; Quran 11 has an unnamed son refuse the Ark and drown. No secure pre-Quranic direct parallel for the complete mountain/wave/drowning sequence has been established. An additional-son reconciliation is logically possible but textually unspecified.
ʿĀd / Hūd
Pre-Islamic Arabian evidence supports a group/tradition named ʿĀd; this does not independently establish Hūd or the supernatural destruction narrative. Current epigraphic geography complicates later simple southern-Arabian placement.
Thamūd / Ṣāliḥ
Thamūd is strongly independently attested centuries before Islam. Ṣāliḥ and the miraculous she-camel remain independently unverified.
Abraham’s visitors
Genesis 18:8 says the visitors ate. Pre-Islamic Jewish/Christian interpretation contains the idea that angels only appeared to eat or did not truly eat; exact Quranic sequence remains source-history open.
Shuʿayb / Midian
Midian is ancient and biblical; Quran does not explicitly identify Shuʿayb with Moses’ father-in-law. Later identification must remain separate.
Pharaoh afterlife
Exodus lacks 11:98’s resurrection-Fire scene. Ezekiel gives a later Pharaoh-underworld motif; Second Temple/rabbinic/Syriac materials provide conceptual background but no exact pre-Islamic complete parallel has been securely established.

Checkpoint 010 Provenance Controls
11:42-46: Quranic drowned son is unnamed; Canaan/Yām/fourth-son identifications are later interpretive traditions unless independently sourced.
11:44: al-Jūdī is Quranic; later shrine/localization traditions are secondary.
11:50-68: historical attestation of ʿĀd/Thamūd does not independently authenticate Hūd/Ṣāliḥ or miracles.
11:69-70: Genesis canonical text says the visitors ate; Philo/Josephus and other pre-Islamic interpretive material must be labeled as interpretation, not substituted for Genesis.
11:78: “my daughters” is Quranic; biological/community interpretations are interpretive layers.
11:84-95: Quranic Shuʿayb is not explicitly Jethro; later identification must be labeled.
11:98: distinguish Exodus, Ezekiel, Second Temple, rabbinic, Syriac Christian, Quranic, and later Islamic eschatological layers.
11:110: “disagreement concerning the Book” must not be silently expanded into “the Torah text was completely corrupted.”
No-source-substitution rule remains in force: later explanation may clarify only with supplied chronology/evidence; it cannot replace the Quran’s own wording.

Executive Synthesis Through Quran 11:123
Surah 11 uses earlier prophetic histories as a cumulative warning and as support for Muhammad; 11:120 explicitly states that the stories strengthen his heart. The surah combines strong biblical narrative continuity with distinctive Quranic expansions and source-history questions.
Earlier Revelation / Taḥrīf
11:17 and 11:110 strengthen the positive/nuanced Mosaic-Book evidence. Disagreement concerning Scripture is explicit; wholesale textual destruction is not stated in these verses.
Historical Peoples and Verification
ʿĀd and especially Thamūd have meaningful independent pre-Islamic attestation, but historical existence of a people does not verify the Quranic prophet, miracle, or supernatural judgment.
Bible-Quran Relationship
Noah, Abraham, Lot, Moses, and Pharaoh provide dense comparison material. QB-0192 and QB-0199 preserve genuine canonical narrative conflicts with carefully limited reconciliation/source-history conclusions.
Divine Sovereignty / Human Responsibility
Surah 11 intensifies both sides: God can determine guidance and communal unity, while humans follow tyrants, reject, wrong themselves, and are judged. No formal QI yet.
Salvation / Judgment
Faith, righteous deeds, humility, repentance, mercy, perseverance, recompense, and 11:114’s removal-of-bad-deeds formula all contribute. 11:106-108 opens a full-corpus Hell-duration study.

Providence through human action
Human schemes, injustice, temptation, imprisonment, royal service, famine, and reconciliation are repeatedly placed within divine knowledge and purpose.
Moral transformation
The brothers move from jealousy and planned wrongdoing to protection of the younger brother, confession, and request for forgiveness.
Joseph as Qurʾanic monotheist
The prison sermon makes Joseph an explicit anti-idolatry preacher; 12:101 adds submission and Hereafter language.
Vindication
Garment evidence, the women’s admission, the wife’s confession, and the king’s trust create a cumulative vindication arc.
Revelation and confirmation
The surah frames itself with Book/Qurʾān language and closes with unseen revelation and taṣdīq of what precedes.

Result
No new QI record was established in Surah 12.
12:110 preserved ambiguity
QDISC-1326 and QDISC-1330 preserve the qirāʾāt/pronoun/interpretive issue. Because the Arabic and early transmission support multiple readings/interpretations, the project did not manufacture a Quran-vs-Quran contradiction.
Ethical-theological OPEN questions
QDISC-1298 and QDISC-1299 preserve the false-theft accusation/manufactured-evidence issue as an open ethical/theological problem, not a QI contradiction.

No new permanent QCA identifier was required solely to fill the category. Existing claims-audit tracks materially affected by Surah 12 include earlier Scripture/taḥrīf, revelation, and claims about Qurʾanic dependence on earlier traditions. Surah 12 evidence supports pre-Islamic availability of numerous motifs but does not by itself demonstrate direct dependence on a specific source.

Late Antique source environment
Genesis 37-50 is the canonical biblical base. Pre-Islamic Jewish and Christian traditions also expand Joseph’s beauty, temptation, Jacob’s discernment/grief, Benjamin, and other motifs. Each source must remain chronologically labeled.
Negative evidence rule
Where no secure pre-Islamic parallel was located (notably Joseph’s scent and the complete shirt-restores-sight mechanism), the conclusion is limited to the surviving investigated evidence and is not proof that no antecedent existed.
12:110 textual history
The passive readings kudhibū / kudhdhibū and pronoun interpretations generated early dispute. The checkpoint preserves variants instead of flattening them.
Source audit flags
Records with previously weak or secondary sourcing remain marked for primary/academic verification where needed; reconstruction does not silently upgrade them.

Primary provenance layers used: QURAN; BIBLE (Genesis 35, 37-50); JEWISH TRADITION (Second Temple, Hellenistic Jewish, rabbinic where chronologically appropriate); CHRISTIAN TRADITION (including Syriac/late-antique where verified); EARLY ISLAMIC SOURCES for qirāʾāt/tafsīr issues; MODERN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP for dating and source-history analysis.
Chronology control
Hebrew Bible/Tanakh, Second Temple/Hellenistic Jewish evidence, early Christian/Syriac evidence, Rabbinic Judaism, and later Jewish/Islamic interpretation are not collapsed into one undifferentiated “Jewish tradition” or “tradition.”
Recovery provenance
All 183 permanent Surah 12 records in this checkpoint were located in the actual project conversation PDF. QDISC-1243 and QB-0255, previously thought unrecoverable, were specifically located in the transcript and are therefore classified here as RECOVERED, not invented or re-established from memory.

Genesis base narrative
Dreams, brothers’ hostility, pit, sale, Egyptian household, sexual accusation, prison dreams, royal dreams, elevation, famine, brothers’ visits, cup episode, recognition, reconciliation.
Pre-Islamic interpretive development
Multiple motifs absent or underdeveloped in Genesis occur in pre-Islamic Jewish/Christian interpretation. Their existence demonstrates availability/traditional fluidity, not automatic borrowing.
Distinctive Qurʾanic restructuring
Satanic causation; Jacob’s heightened discernment; anonymous brothers; Joseph-Moses adoption wording; public vindication before release; explicit prison anti-idolatry sermon; Qurʾanic moral/theological framing; scent and shirt restoration; explicit revelation/confirmation conclusion.
The Qurʾanic Joseph story is unmistakably continuous with Genesis 37-50 while also substantially restructuring the narrative. Numerous non-Genesis details have parallels in pre-Islamic Jewish/Christian interpretive traditions; other distinctive details still lack securely demonstrated pre-Islamic antecedents in the investigated corpus. This supports a rich Late Antique traditional environment without, by itself, proving or disproving the Qurʾan’s theological claim of revelation.
Scripture-relation significance
12:111 is especially important because the Qurʾān describes itself as taṣdīq of what precedes while the surah itself displays meaningful additions, omissions, rearrangements, and theological reframing relative to Genesis. “Confirmation” therefore cannot simply be assumed to mean verbatim narrative identity.
